That made no sense to me, and when asked in the comments to the video, he states it's because those wires "provide no power". Very confusing.
I ordered the harness and emblem so I’m gonna plug it in first before I do anything. Maybe his harness was just defective. I’ll post here to let you guys know what happens. But either way I think the wires will have to be extended because the harness was originally designed for an ice f-150.

It will definitely need to be extended. My understanding is it plugs into the right headlight. You'll need to extend it back to the fuse box and then up into the frunk lid running forward to the grill. In the Q&A on the Putco site, they say the emblem comes on with the DRLs. That's also odd to me, because then the emblem would go off when the headlights come on and the DRLs go off.

Looking forward to your testing.

Aftermarket is 6500K and I believe Fords is 4000K
FYI, 6500K and 4000K are measures of the temperature of the light (i.e. the color), and not brightness. They both appear to be 6500K in the videos I've seen, as that temperature is considered to be "cool white", while 4000K is warmer (i.e. more yellow), like an incandescent bulb.

so with the harness you don’t need to go to the fuse box. Also I think it works on either headlight. My plan is to plug it into the drivers side headlight. There is a rubber housing on that side that goes from the frunk to the hood so I might be able to fish my wires through that for a cleaner install. I will post back here with results. I’ll take pictures as well. Everything is coming this week so most likely I’ll get it installed this weekend.

Yes. I meant back near the fuse box, just to get it up into the frunk lid. Now, I did see a Q&A on the Putco site that said it has to be plugged into the driver's side headlight. I wish Putco would publish their installation sheets for these things so they could be reviewed prior to order.

ya they aren’t good like that. Plus when you call and ask questions they don’t even know. They told be the harness wouldn’t work, saying the lightning uses a different headlight harness lol. Also they don’t ever plan on coming out with a harness for our trucks as they say it’s not worth it for them to make it.

The original ICE F150 harness is what you end up with. The Pinout is different. Martin explains how to tap different wires because on the lightning, those are the ones used for power.

I’ve installed the emblem. I will do a write up in the next couple weeks. So you do have to swap out the wires on the harness. Using the harness is a lot cleaner than the fuse box. As well I will be adding the camera washer back and the parts guy found me all the parts I would need. The most important part though is the hose which I would rather a factory one then parts slapped together at Home Depot. This is the house part number if anyone is interested. I’ll post the rest of the part numbers when I do my write up.

I purchased my second lightning and it already had the emblem installed and wired. Looks like they used fuse 48?? I think when you turn on the heated seats in the back the combination of emblem and seat heaters blow the fuse.

What's my easiest "rejigger" from here? I really don't want to rip out the existing wiring and rebuild a harness. Should I just move to fuse 10 like I've seen others do??

I'm wondering how this all worked out from the driver's side headlight back through the existing wire loom. This does seem like the cleanest approach to me, and has the potential benefit of possibility avoiding radio interference since the routing is on the opposite side, away from the antenna.

I was gonna do a write up but have been so busy. I swapped the black and red wires like the video said and then routed the wire through the rubber wire harness housing on the frunk lid that way all the wires are hidden. I had no interference with the radio as everything was done through drivers side.

We're doing a video on this later this week but...

We did the washer upgrade too, and were able to route the tubes through the oem route - and the cable followed it. Plugged in the cable on the passenger side, which was difficult, but just about doable.

I did the camera washer. You can just buy the oem hose and everything is plug in play. No modifications needed. Also it’s better to route wires through drivers side as there is no radio interference that way and a cleaner install as there is a rubber harness housing and you don’t see any wires

Oh, there's no interference on this side for me - and I made my own loom case ;)
