I agree with you. Also, I have the extended range battery. I can tell you that you have nothing to regret. The extended range battery is a figment of Ford’s imagination. After, the catastrophic battery failure my Lariat experienced last month and all of the HVJB replacements, my truck’s range is far worse than it ever was. The dash doesn’t even pretend the range is good any more. 😖

I would be upset if my new truck had no heat and possibly more problems. Tesla addresses most recalls OTA and I have never had to get service . It’s crazy how ill prepared Ford is at addressing issues with their BEVs. Many posts on these forums are complaining about poor dealership experiences.

The dealership model has been a big negative of my ownership experience. I buy EV’s so I don’t have to go to the dealership. If my lightning develops problems it’s going to be sold. Being an owner of 3 Tesla’s, I haven’t needed service. I have four recalls (all mailed btw) on my ‘23 Lightning Pro, including the 12V BMS replacement. The truck doesn’t get over the air updates but functions OK. I did once have reduced powertrain that corrected itself by powering on and off. I am genuinely concerned that my local dealers can fix/service recalls without having a problem. My initial telephone conversations are not encouraging. I just recently saw the cyber truck in person and it is very impressive. Ford better get their shit together fast or they will not be a player in electric trucks.
I agree, it’s getting frustrating with the OTA’s but for me it might be going back to ICE.

I mean the Cybertruck has its own problems, this is like the 6th one to break down

The social media pendulum swings both ways. This guy was in my feed for a while and was all praise for CT. Manufacturers are now at the mercy of social media platforms. MKBHD basically tanked Fisker with his statement “The worst car I ever reviewed”. The influencers are becoming more powerful than the brands (Mr Beast, Kardashian, etc.). Musk might be a genius buying such a platform.

A lot of them are Tesla investors and it benefits them to make every post Pro Tesla. Tesla cars are good but have a lot of flaws, you wouldn’t know it though with all the HYPE on Social Media. For example, the CT, everyone is raving about how fast it is, must be the Cyberbeast right? No, it’s the AWD, the one that’s equivalent in 0-60 with the Lightning and slower than the Rivian. But on social media it seems it’s the fastest Truck ever produced…..

Wow that is tragic - are you going the buyback route I hope?

That's nice. You think that is why Fisker is failing?

Yeah, probably. But I'm going to try now.
FWIW, I have had mine in the shop for weeks over the previous year. Powertrain malfunction, recalls, etc. Powertrain malfunction never changed drivability, but the orange wrench was an annoying reminder. On one trip coming back from a family emergency, I experienced sever battery colling issues, and what should have been an 8-hour trip turned into a 17-hour nightmare, and only got home 30 minutes prior to my wife leaving on a work trip (we have two littles at home.) After all this, I was finally at peace and happy with the truck, until...

Fast forward, and I got the powertrain failure with reduced throttle to 57%, the day after I told my wife "See, they worked out the kinks!" We made the right decision!" Brought it to the dealer February 5, and it has been there ever since. Tried to proactively initiate a buyback but was told it was ineligible (probably a day or two away from the 30-day rule here in TX, WAY past the in the shop for the same thing 4x rule) and Ford told me I should seek the legal counsel. Dealer would not provide a loaner, and Ford would only reimburse me for an F-150 / Explorer (had to be Ford, no other brands eligible for rental reimbursement) at $60 a day. Took calling Ford over and over and having them work with the dealer to get the required sealant for the battery replacement escalated, but still no word. They said maybe this week, but I am not foolish enough to put any faith in that estimate. May end up going to buyback route again, but at this point, I feel like quoting ole John Coffey..."I'm tired, boss."

All this to say, many feel the same way regarding the price wars, but it is not unique to Ford or any other manufacturer with a highly anticipated new offering.

I personally learned my lesson being an early adopter, but there are probably as many people who are happy (and good for them on their experience) as there are stories of feeling burned.

Most criticism of CT is based on pics/vids. CT must be seen in person to fully appreciate. The build quality, size, materials, and technology put CT in a class of its own.

0-60 for DM CT is fast enough for this size of vehicle. Most reviewers have said it’s plenty quick.

The Pro Tesla investors/posts aren’t helping the stock. There must anti Tesla sentiment as well.

I have seen it in person and was impressed by how it looks bigger than it really is. I saw a lot of flaws on the stainless steel for a showroom model. The interior has wasted space from that long dash.

Overall, it comes down to whether you want to be the center of attention or not as far as looks. Ford however is making it hard on themselves with their botched software updates and lack of improvements in the Lightning. Essentially it’s the same Lightning from 2 years ago, sure we got YT and finally a percentage on the Instrument cluster but I would be lying if I didn’t say I was expecting more gimmicks from Ford over time.

Thats were Tesla will always win, the gimmicks they put in their cars, it sells them and Ford is going to have a tough time in the EV Market if ownership does not include gimmick improvement.

I agree on the dash, lots of wasted space. By the time I get my non foundation DM, hopefully the attention will have died down.
Legacy can’t currently produce a software defined vehicle using current software and off the shelf hardware/supply chain. Most Legacy BEVs have 12V LVB and OTA issues. What Tesla is doing isn’t easy, and that isn’t fully reflected by the market, media, and the public. Eventually BEV cost and profits matter. That point was reached for Legacy recently. I don’t believe they will be able to scale BEV quicker than Tesla/Chinese can iterate and push down costs. The Lightning is a great BEV that loses a lot of money for Ford, with no change in site. Legacy will be relegated to ICE, PHEV and limited BEV sales for the foreseeable future.
