I ordered, received, and installed the driver's side rear seat release from Builtright Industries all in the same day (thanks Amazon!) Just a T30 screwdriver and 5 minutes and it was in.
The pin in the first picture is the initial release pin that releases the seat back and then the strap attaches on. The video link on the instruction card clears everything up and covers possible mistakes people can make. It's very well done. I had to hold the new black bracket toward the passenger side to allow room for the plastic pin clip to move when locked.
Now it is much easier to access the area behind the seat. There's a subwoofer back there on mine so it's not as spacious as it could be, but any room is better than no room.

I've done the same, but now I can't get the damned thing to latch again! Any pointers?

Yeah, need to line up the little bar on the back wall with the clamp on the back of the seat. I did the same thing!

I have to give my seat a good shove to latch it. I initially had the black bracket too close to the latch and it prevented it from locking. You could try to loosen the screws, hold pressure on the black bracket pushing it to the passenger side, then tighten the screws. Try locking the latch and check the clearance of the nylon clip on the pin to the bracket tab. If it’s too tight, you have to bend the bracket tab slightly.
The bottom seat position you unlatch the seat back should the position you latch it. If you raise the seat bottom, the latch bar will be at the top. If not, the bar will be almost all the way ant the bottom. Also, make sure the black bracket is installed on top of the latch.
Hope this help.

Thanks all...
I've tried most, and I'm not a shmo....I can figure stuff out usually..

Can you elaborate, or something on:

"check the clearance of the nylon clip on the pin to the bracket tab. If it’s too tight, you have to bend the bracket tab slightly."

TIA

I have the same issue.
I’m thinking of adding a few washers to the bracket to bring it up, closer to the front of the vehicle.
That way it will engage with the pin on the seat sooner. Not sure if that is going to work, but that is my next step. I’ll let you know if that works.

I’m thiking it will be a 1/16 or 1/8 max.
It should be unnoticeable to the passenger.
That’s my hope, anyway.

I just got mine to latch today. Make sure you lift the seat bottom when trying to latch it. Voila!
