FitcamX is highly recommended on this forum, but check the loop recordings.

My product information for the Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam shows this:
Packed with 64GB card and support maximum 128GB

I only bought the 128GB cards based on this..
Are you guys saying the Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam works fine with the 256GB..??

—->Side note, I’ve never been able to connect to camera wifi of all things at all ever from an iPhone. Wireless CarPlay was blamed. This is the negative of the camera for me. Cannot set camera date and time for recorded videos without wifi connection which really sucks for proper use.!!!!!
Best way to avoid this is to use a different device to access the cam. I use my surface with the app running on Android subsystem. I am sure an ipad or a kindle or some such would work.

If you want to use the same device, go into the phone list in your truck, and press the carplay/android-auto button to trigger a disconnect first. It will stop forcing your phone onto the PROJXXXXX wifi connection.

Thanks that was on my to do list of things to try. Sounds like a possible work around for other  wireless CarPlay mega junkies like myself. Previously when I tried disconnecting  wireless CarPlay it did not remedy the situation. I have yet to successfully connect a device to this camera which has been a huge letdown. Previously the ios device app kept crashing at start up. The wrongly dated video recording files is certainly a nuisance.
I do appreciate your feedback above on this, thanks.

I have been reading about dash cams in anticipation of buying one. I know the FitCamX is popular here as you say, but I am settling on the Vantrue 4 Pro <https://www.amazon.com/Vantrue-N4-Pro-Channel-STARVIS/dp/B0C3M7HPRT>. Couple that with a battery pack install and you have a pretty solid system. It uses the newer Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor and the dark mode contrast capabilities of that sensor are terrific if properly implemented in software by the camera processor. Based on reviews, it appears that the Venture is the only dash cam on the market that is doing this properly right now. I'd recommend this video comparison. It's pretty eye opening... <> for anyone looking to buy a dash cam in today's market.
I'm surprised that there isn't a cleaner install for the Vantrue camera. They can't make adapters to plug into the mirror like the FitCamX?
