Getting a solid amber fault on Ford mobile charger when trying to charge at 0F and colder using 120V. I have tried multiple locations and outlets, with/without an extension cord, plugged direct into outlet. Will charge for about 30 seconds and then solid amber fault. 240v is not available otherwise would use that. At those temps just trying to keep battery warm with 120V hore power. Otherwise parking overnight at 0F and colder cools the battery down to about 5F and limits power output to about 65% the next day.

Anyone run into this? I think it is a faulty charger but don't know the test procedures.

Sounds like a defective charger - common on the Mustang Mach E forums.
Most of the complaints were due to heat causing throttling and shut downs.

Take it to a Ford dealer, have them test it on their outlet.

It's covered under warranty.

Thanks I scoured the mach e forums and yes most were having the opposite problem overheating. Plan is to take to dealer. However, this weekend was 0F to minus 15F truck and battery were cold. charger would not work at all on 120v. Yesterday was 25F and truck battery was warm charger “works fine”.

so dealer is going to plug in and “test”, blue light will come on and not trip and send me on my way. Problem is the only way to really test is when you really need it. Went to bed with 70 miles and 60% battery woke up with 40 miles 55%battery and power reduced to roughly 50%. Luckily I was only 20 miles from a Chevy dealer that has the only fast charger within 75 miles.

Try putting the charger on something, like a bucket, vs. the snow or the cold ground. Do NOT use an extension cord. Make sure the outlet is on a circuit that is 15amps, and that nothing else of any substance is on that circuit.

I hardly ever use mine on 120v, always 240v at home. A few weeks ago I did use on 120v at my folks and had issues getting charging starting. It was -12 Celsius that day, so around 10 Fahrenheit. I attributed it to the outlet and not the charger though.

As stated tried with and without an extension cord at multiple locations and outlets. Every time charger tripped to amber.

Electrically there is absolutely no reason you can't use a properly rated extension cord whether 120v or 240v. You must be careful as most extension cords at the local hardware store are not properly sized for this application. If using a properly sized extension cord you can run it 50 feet or 150 feet.

Might be time to get a real EVSE.

I like my 48A L2 240V charger - very reliable and charges both my wife's PHEV and my Lightning.
