It baffles me yall don’t do one of two things more, use the adaptive cruise control more (so no foot at all) or like to time getting off the throttle so that your regen stops you where you want to end up (fun little challenge). If you’re always coasting and changing your speed, you’re driving the traffic behind you insane and making the roads a PITA

Adaptive cruise needs to be improved to factor in the traffic behind you. Models show that the best traffic flow happens when each car maintains its position equally spaced between the cars in front AND behind.

without a doubt. But with consistent gap with the guy in front of you, it’s up to the guy behind you to do the same for now. Unless rapidly breaking, nobody is trying to maintain a gap with the guy behind them manually.

I agree that it's what you get used to ... I used to drive a vanpool and got used to driving smoothly so I wouldn't wake up my co-workers at every stop light or exit ramp.

With 1PD you can easily adjust your foot to adjust your speed. Going down a hill you can go just the speed you want without having to ride the brake. Approaching a stop sign you can gauge the decrease in speed and it's a smooth ride for your passengers. Only if you quickly take your foot off should your passengers get sick!

There are several ways to disengage Cruise Control. Yes if you press the 'x' button then it takes you out, so you need to prepare yourself by putting your foot on the accelerator before hitting 'x'. But if you use Adaptive then you don't even need to get out, it will slow down as needed. Or if you use the brake to get out when you're not comfortable then you will brake as you normally would.

Personally I love 1PD and don't see any need to switch over.
