No, I actually started my trial session of the hot spot thinking this would work, but it does not, I am letting the trial expire, then will possibly subscribe to streaming entertainment, which is what prompted when I tried playing YT while charging at EA last week.
I set up my android device as a hotspot to the truck then YT started playing.
You would think the truck would take advantage of it's built in active hot spot but that's NOT THE CASE @Ford Motor Company

Nope, it won't use its own hotspot. Connecting to your phone's hotspot, OR connecting to any WiFi network (restaurant, hotel, home) works fine.

I let the hot spot expire as planned early this month, but I did subscribe to streaming services which is working well, now that motorcycling season is here, I won't be using the feature much either, might suspend it until the fall/winter

You can get a wifi travel router from a well known online retailer.
They're small and are powered off of the USB port, cost is $25-40 depending on features and requirements.
Connect it to the hotspot and the truck to it and voila, the truck can now utilize the onboard hotspot.
A-s backwards, yes, but it works.
