Has anyone measured how far you can travel with the SR and ER on freeways in the southwest at 75MPH?

I have made the round trip from my home to my ranch 3 times. It’s 202 miles round trip and here in Texas I run the AC full blast the whole way. Speed limits vary but my MO is to drive 5 mph over the limit. That means 70 for about ⅓ of the way, then 75 for the next ⅓ and finally 80 for the last leg. So average is 75. When I return home I have around 45 miles on the GOM. I have a tonneau cover which is supposed to be a mileage boost but I don’t have a comparison. There are some considerable hills en route which are definitely affecting the mileage. My best guess is 265 miles on level ground. My truck is an 2023 ER Lariat.

Tonneau covers don't boost mileage.

I don't think that average speed can be interpolated to performance at a particular speed. My experience has been that the difference between 75 and 85 MPH is associated with a 25-30% drop in range. Also your rate of acceleration at any point has a bigger effect than even that. One pedal-mash to blast past somebody can change a 200 mile trip at 2.2m/kwh into a 200 mile trip at 1.8m/kwh. (And that pedal is tempting)

If you keep steady at 75 I think you'll find your range is significantly higher than if you average 75 while running 80+ for a third of your trip.

My guess for the OP would be 275, or 225 if it's raining. But if it's really flat, those could be low guesses.

My point was simply this: I am not a hyper miler ... I drive as fast as I feel like going and I am also known to accelerate quickly as needed to pass or merge. In short, no different than I drive in an ICE vehicle. The info is just there FYI ... anyway you choose to use it. The ranch is off-grid (solar power only) but I have installed a charger which supplies 240 volts @ 10amps. That gets me about 4-5 miles per hour (in the sun). I have enough solar panels to keep my battery bank full while charging the truck but I usually take it off charge well before sundown. I use that extra mileage to go into town or visit neighbors.

Thanks everyone. You can probably guess I'm new at this EV thing. I have a Lariat ER. I'm going to try a round robin trip today I hope, from Mesa along Hiway 87 to Hiway 188 to Globe (fast charger there if I need a quick top up) then US 60 back to Mesa. Slightly over 200 miles. Starting at 90% charge, trip planner says I'll get home with 20%, but I don't think it takes into account the elevation changes on this trip.

If you use Ford's Navigation and put in the destination, it in fact DOES put in the elevation changes.

The distance you can theoretically travel at 75 mph may seem like an interesting number to know, but it serves no real purpose when it comes to actually traveling in an EV. In general, on flat level ground, with no wind, on a nice day, you might get 2.0 mi/kWh at 75 mph. Since the ER battery is specified to have 131 kW usable, the theoretical distance you could travel, if starting at 100%, and driving until the truck stopped would be about 262 miles.
When traveling, you rarely see 100%, and you even more rarely will arrive at a charger at 0%. You get a chance to be at 100% state of charge once a day, at most, and that’s generally only if you were plugged into an L2 charger overnight. Most people are uncomfortable planning to arrive at a charger or destination below 10%. The reality is that most EV drivers, when traveling are going to use about 60-65% of the battery capacity between charges, which in the case of the ER is just about 80 kWh, which would equate to about 160 miles between charging stops at 75 mph. The reality is that charging stops are not available in most areas every 20 miles, so you need to factor charger locations into your plan. Sometime you will stop after 110 miles, sometimes you may need to make it 180 miles, so you might have to spend extra time charging above 80%, or slow down a bit to be comfortable that you will make that leg of the trip.
Once you have travelled a bit, you get the hang of it. Sometimes you can travel as fast as you care to, because you know the next charger stop is well within your range. Sometimes you make adjustments to charging time and/or speed to be able to stretch out the range a bit for a longer stretch between chargers.
One of the adages of EV travel is that range is not really an issue, unless you don’t have enough to make it to the next charger :)

I used the trip planner in FordPass.
If you send that trip to the truck, pull it up, and select Go, then the navigation will forecast your trip properly. I'd suggest you also use ABRP (A Better Route Planner), AND lookup every charging stop in PlugShare ahead of time AND day of trip.

ABRP says you should be OK, it suggests you charge a bit in Globe, but based on the arrival %, it may not be needed

Be aware that if you plug it into the Ford Nav, it will be a bit pessimistic, but you should still be OK.

Thanks, I had planned to use both plugshare and ABRP.

Make sure you use PlugShare during planning AND day of trip.

Also - do yourself a favor (if possible). Don't plan on being daring. If your highway driving is yielding 2.1 miles per kilowatt hour, plan the trip at 1.8. If you've never done a trip before, plan it at 1.7. Don't exceed 75mph. Don't go below 20% SOC, and charge back up to 80% and move on.

There is no reason to get fancy until you're very comfortable with the truck. Pulling into a charging spot with 3% left and a big grin on your face doesn't sit well with your better half...
