Got my FCSP installed by my electrician on Friday, pushing 24 amps. Plugged it in when I got home, it was showing around 5.2kw charge rate on FordPass. Didn’t actually set up the charge station immediately (I.e. setting it up through FCSP app and bonding it to home WiFi, etc) as we had dinner plans. So I decided to go through setup process Saturday morning, and once I was done, the charge rate dropped to 3.2kw. Max setting was 16 amp in the app, tried to change it but of course it didn’t take. After shutting off the breaker and trying a few more times, I got tired of it and finally just decided to do a factory reset from the app. The second I did that, it started charging back to 5.2kw.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it is sort of how I feel right now. Do I get any real advantage having the FCSP “set up”.

That is how I have run mine since April of last year when I installed it. Not because it wouldn’t work, but because we don’t have the internet.

I have set the speed down from 80Amps to 64 and it has run flawlessly.

Doesn't seem like anyone's had success in resetting the charge rate thru the FP app. If your electrician set the manual switch to 24Amps, I'm not sure the FP app will allow a higher setting. I'm assuming the manual switch would need to be set to Position 7 (Factory Default) to possibly enable the FP app to allow control/switching to a level lower than the 80 Amp max, but I haven't found anything to confirm this.

Given that you have chosen a slow rate of charge, you're unlikely to run into over heating issues, for which there is a firmware update. That would be the only motivation to bind your FCSP to your wifi network, ensuring you receive the updates when issued.

But since you charge at a slow rate you will be fine.

BTW, Fordpass always shows a lower than theoretical kWh value

ie. 240v x 24a = 5.76 kWh

Fordpass often will show ~90% of the max or in this case about 5.2 kWh

The App, related to charging is a trainwreck. Mine's been charging for 2-3 hours at 2.5kW and it says it's added 0.7kW. Not sure how you screw up simple math, but the Ford App developers have managed it. (missed changes from python 2.7 to 3.x ? Don't know an int from a float ? LOL)

Good to knoW.

FordPass tells me in charge history no more than 44A, and I wondered why since my Lightning Pro with SR battery should be able to draw 48A...90% of 48A is 43.2A.

I thought maybe the 44A reporting was an average rate over the charging time since current gets reduced by the Lightning as it reaches higher SOC's.

Maybe that is why the app says 90%, because it is the actual average current draw?

I have a clamp on ammeter I could attach to a wire in the FCSP during charging to see the instantaneous amperage, but maybe someone has already done that?

I also am leaving the FCSP in a semi-dumb mode - I never could get it added to FordPass, the last setup step. It at first gave an error "ChargePoint Not Found"

But now it gives a different message at the last step:

"Incorrect Station ID or Access Code" even though the setup app had the correct ID and PW and had connected to the FCSP...go figure.

But it charges the truck, so be it.
