As expected, with my SOC being around 52% this morning my available power showed 94%, totally normal.

What surprised me this afternoon was upon returning from lunch run, the available power to the motors dropped to 56%!!!!

I flipped on the power distribution display, no output or regeneration from them front motor, this persisted for the three miles drive home, before I had noticed this I could feel the reduced effect of 1PD.

Got home shut down the truck for a couple of minutes while we put items away, then I headed out for another test ride ... praying.... that the power level would come back to 'normal', which it did, showing about 92% at my afternoon SOC of 46%

Took Silver Lightning for a spin around the block, all power was back and sport mode was as snappy as always.

Never got any warnings or MIL lamps or Fordpass alerts history entries about the situation.

At this point, I'm preparing for Thanksgiving road trip by charging the truck to 95% today, then will be plugged in overnight to ensure the full benefits of departure timed preconditioning of the battery and cabin Thursday morning, hope to be rolling at 0800 hrs. with a fully charged & conditioned HVB.

Great write-up! And it assuages any fears I had of an issue with my truck -- I will consider it normal. To be honest, it would be awesome if the truck had an "eco" mode where only the rear motor powered the truck or if turning off the front motor wasn't possible, then giving the truck like a 20%/80% F/R power split bias to the back wheels.

Our original competitor, the R1T has this feature. It results in about a 6% increase in efficiency/range. So MAYBE 20 miles in the ER Lightnings. That's nothing to sneeze at, but may not be worth the added complications of such a system.

Similar thing happened to me today. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. First time I've seen it though a few people here have mentioned it as you know.

I don't care much about the loss of power; 56% of a ridiculous amount is still a pretty high amount 😂 but it's a snow day, and the loss of 4WD traction was very noticeable.

A couple of short power cycles didn't change anything. It initially showed full power then disabled the front motor as soon as I switched the shifter into gear. I went in to have lunch, then after restarting it was normal on the way home. Hope it doesn't become a habit. I didn't see any relevant DTCs.

My truck performed flawlessly today, no issues, averaged 1.8 MPK.
