Lightning xlt clicking noise when put in gear from park

Like the title says when I go from park. To either neutral, reverse or drive. It makes a clicking noise and keeps clicking.

Any ideas?

Totally different issue, I have not heard of this situation before!!

When I depress the button on the shifter, I don't move the shifter just depress the button, I hear 1 click that sounds like that.

That sounds like the shifter interlock actuator. There must be an issue with the range sensor in the shifter causing it to engage and disengage rapidly.

Update
finally able to get it worked on, they have to change out the whole shifter assembly because of a locking actuator...


And also they found out the
SOBDMA module has to be replaced.

I think there might be a limit switch that needs adjustment. Shifter in Park.

Sounds like a collapsed lifter. Is the sound 1x or 2x RPM? Hopefully it's not a rod knock. What's oil pressure look like? Of course it only happens while in gear so it's probably in the transmission. Have you checked the ATF level?
