Ended up working late last night, 12+ hours and was heading home at 1 am. Pull out my phone and it's dead. Before I started to panic, I remembered that I can use the keypad to enter the truck and then my backup password to turn it on. I was able to drive home with my phone charging on the wireless pad. I hadn't been carrying a spare key on me, so Ford's consideration for these features saved me from a really less than fun night. If you're using PaaK, consider keeping a good password in your wallet or memorized, better than trying to charge a phone with a power block in the damp cold at 1am.

I keep one of my key fobs in a Faraday bag hidden in the truck. Figured I would probably forget to bring the fob if I ever had to drop it off for service. This way it's there and also solves the problem you had. Plus, knowing me I would forget my password (but I can remember my PIN/keypad code). Bought this one recommended by another member.

This is the exact same one Amazon says I bought in 2018. I bought it so I could keep my keys in the console while going to the park or whatever. However, on several occasions with the fob inside the pouch inside the console I could still start the truck! So make sure you test…mine was past return policy before I realized this so trashed it.

But if someone can get inside, won't the truck operate?
No, the truck says it isn't detecting a key, after roughly a minute it will power down to black. If you hit the start button it'll wake up, but unless you type in your backup pass code it's not going to remain on.

No, the bag uses a metal lining that keeps the truck from detecting the fob is present. It keeps the radio signal within the bag. I’ve tested it and the truck did not wake when I approached and the truck would not start. I will plan to test occasionally per the comment above though just in case.

Anyone know how to retrieve the factory configured keypad code? Dealer never provided it and my schedule is such that I haven't had the chance to go by and retrieve it from the dealer who won't give it to me over the phone or via email (which I understand). I'm trying to find a quicker solution (if it exists). Thanks

It was on a card tucked into one of the manuals. You should have received a small literature pack with warranty, tire info, etc.

Yeah I looked, it wasn't in there unfortunately.

I would contact the selling dealer and find out what they can do. I would imagine they can either look it up using the vin, or reset it to something else.
