Mountain climbing efficiency - 1.4 mi/kwh, 40 miles, 4500 ft elevation gain

I was a a little worried coming into this one, and halfway through I'm feeling better. Will see what the return trip looks like. Climbed 4500 ft over 40 miles and averaged 1.4. This was ~half 40 mph paved forest service road and half ~10 mph gravel/rock crawling. Started at 90% with an estimated 265 miles, finished at 66% and 172 miles. Load was me +1 and gear/food for 2 nights of light off grid tent camping.

Thanks for sharing! I'm still awaiting an invite to order (although very miffed that I can't get the ER and tax rebate now). I live in Tucson, AZ and have a nearby mountain that gets snow a couple times each winter. I'd like to take this up, it's about a 6,000ft climb over 25 miles. This is good info. Can't wait to see what your return trip looks like and how much energy is recouped.

So trip down was pretty good at almost 4.0, so call it an average of 2.5 up a down, which is what I get close to normally. Would feel comfortable climbing ~100 miles and knowing I could get back to where I started with enough battery.

I am in the same boat. I pull about 5000 pound trailer to my mountain cabin with tools in it to work. The cabin is at 4000 feet in North Carolina. it cuts my efficiency for that last seven or 8 miles severely. However, I found when I’m coming downhill in the trailer is pushing the truck using regeneration brakes, I gain about 6% battery going downhill. So it averages out.
