My f150 lightning range is horrible

My Lightning, on the other hand, has been getting ~6.2 miles/kWh on the surface streets in the LA area. I'm here to help some friends and family with recovery after the Eaton Fire in Altadena. We took a 40 mile round trip drive the other day and used <5% of the battery. Typical efficiency numbers here have been 3-4 miles/kWh. I could get used to this except the local price of electricity is $0.25/kWh, while my home electricity price is only $0.035/kWh.

Wow, that beats my e-Golf! I have never seen anywhere near 3 mi/kWh on my Lightning. If you tell me that you have a pro with the normal sized tires I’m headed out to Les Schwab tonight, that is the one difference I can think of between my SR Lariat and any other model (no sunroof, etc.)

Although honestly it doesn’t really matter, what I have has been good enough to make it from the Canadian border to California with no real stress.

I have an ER Lariat with stock tires (I do not like the feel of the stock tires, so am looking for LTs for when I replace these). Freeway driving I get ~2.3-2.5 miles/kWh unless it's really cold or I have to drive at higher than reasonable speeds (or I'm towing or...)

my buyback went very smoothly. got full price back. that was for a motor issue. I have since bought another ER lariat and I have a 5.5KW inverter generator and compatible charger to throw in the back to get me out of any pinch. This helps with my range anxiety.

just traveled almost 1,000 miles this week,
to see three of my sons in N Georgia
and far N Alabama(Rocket city USA)...

enjoyed every second of it, admittedly in very NICE upper 70's late February temps!

....averaged 2.5mi/KW in my PRO SR

after over 52,000 miles, and towing our 3,800lb single-axle Camper more than 1/2 of those miles over the first 30 months(Aug '22), I still can't believe how fast, how smooth, and how incredibly comfortable this AMAZING MACHINE really is...

it really DOES live up to the expectations that JimFarley laid out to his Ford board only a short time before that...

I would buy another, or two, in a heartbeat ...

here's some easy charging details:
-Tesla for most 'fast charging', and it IS fast... as much as 160kw...
-and some Home charging at son's locations, too(overnight)...

oh yeah, forgot to mention... the last night was an overnight in the 'bed', as a 'camper' for the night...

used ProPower all night, while 240v charging, to power my Wifi TMobile box for laptop 'work', and for TV for streaming DirecTVStream with my RokuTV for 'Survivor' night.. and having my temperature-controlled electric heater, which came on and off several times thru the ~55degree overnight hours...

my 8' x 12' tarp created the 'tent' for the night, while the full bed-rug, sheets and moving blanket and pillows made for an acceptable 'comfortable' night...

If you were to charge the truck with that generator, how much electricity does it produce and how fast? How long would it take to charge the battery? How many KWh per hour?

A 5.5 kW 120 v generator using the Mobile charger, will be painfully slow as you refill that tiny gas tank. A 240 v generator can achieve the slowest charging shown on Ford's chart.

As I suspected keeping a generator in your bed for emergencies is really a waste.

As a general purpose "just in case", yes. But for crossing a specific charging desert, where you can plan an overnight / all day stop to charge, then why not. That said, I don't know how much that applies in the lower 48. Certainly in the northern parts of the continent it starts to make sense.

Like, for hunting etc. where your destination camp is more than 1/2 charge away from civilization. Tons of places like that here in BC.
