I cannot believe it. I just put down a deposit for a fully built but not yet shipped Platinum.

Everyone that put my fears to rest have my appreciation.

If the Ford reps are monitoring, a lot of the people that responded are due a commission from Ford. Or at least a nice tee-shirt. :)

I have both. ‘21 MME AWD Extended Range and a lightning Platinum.
Very impressed with both. Between the two, I use the lightning more, because:
-Fits big & Tall guys better than the MME
-its easier to access, as it won’t fit in my garage where the MME is.
-Rides smooth

The MME’s blue cruise doesn’t meander in the lane as much as the lightning

ive also had the MME in the shop 2x for ‘issues’ & haven’t had to take the lightning into the shop other than various recall(s)

I agree about the Platinum cost, but my wife doesn't feel comfortable in the backseat except in the Platinum. The platinum back rest moves backward from bottom to top like this /

She demands (I love my wife so she can demand all she wants) a Platinum if we go Lightning. There was a used Rivian in the lot and she like the rear seats but I'm not really a Rivian kind of person. I don't like standing out in a crowd and the Lightning seems anonymous on the road.

Oh, BTW, we travel with grandchildren and others a lot in the back. I can see her point on longer trips. Me, I would buy a foam triangular pillow for the back seat and save 10K.

P.S.,

I mentioned the triangular pillow just now to my wife. No words spoken but I got her message really clear. It's a no-go.
$22k for tilting headrests? I want my wife to be happy, but not that badly.

I have owned my 2022 MME premium ER for a year and 7,000 miles. Perfect in every way. (OK, a bit bouncy on rough pavement, but reliable in every way.)

I'm 67 years old. I bi-weekly travel from Virginia to Delaware using some rural roads and across heavily traveled bridge that is miles long.

So here is my concern. I need a truck as reliable as my MME and I'm a bit worried about things I read on this forum about the Lightning.

I want so badly to buy a Lightning Platinum, but I see a lot of people with "it bricked on me today" and other "now it is driveway art."

All I want to do is travel during the late evening and night with confidence my wife, grandchildren and I will be safe in a reliable truck.

I hope members will help me out with a meaningful discussion that I'm sure almost everyone here can provide.

Here is one thing that concerns me. I almost bought a Platinum a few months ago at a dealership. It was bought quickly as I was discussing at home with my wife so I missed out. I saw a week or so ago that the dealer is selling it now as 1-owner used after less than four months. Carfax says " HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY MODULE REPLACEMENT " so I guess it "bricked' on the first owner, but I could be 100% wrong.

I thank you in advance for your thoughts to help me.
Still not as bad as my Escape PHEV and the main bearing that were faulty and Ford recalled all of them, but did not have a fix yet so we all got notices and a “drive and pray” letter that they will fix it later. 🤷‍♂️.

I come to expect a recall now when I purchase from Ford. It’s like the prize in the cracker jacks😂🤣

I know what you are talking about for Ford and recalls. I had given up on Ford a while back. Took a chance with the MME. The MME is such a good EV that I decided to also get the Lightning. Hopefully Ford will not let me down AGAIN. :)
