Does the EPA range test require HVAC use, though? I would assume the test is done without HVAC usage but i've never looked into it.

Yes, I believe even in ICE it does. EPA range estimates are for average uses not necessarily leadfoots and hypermilers.

Also, the reason this is a big deal for Ford (big enough to include heated seats on all trims) is because even though this doesn't affect anything for us drivers it does do something significant for Ford.

Now whenever referenced (in passing conversation, media, Podcasters, Vloggers...etc) the range on the SR is 240mi, not 230mi. From a marketing perspective, it was deemed a big deal. When we go to resell our trucks, obviously we know what we actually get with range (and those in Southern States see no affect), but the EPA stated range on the vehicles are now 240mi.
