No internet with Andoid Auto

HI All. Couldn't find an answer to my issue. When connected to the truck Sync 4a Android Auto uses a temporary WIFI connection. Unfortunately when this is connected the phone no longer has internet connection. If I try to use Chrome or anything I just get an error "No internet connection available". I have to turn off WIFI and thus Android Auto so I can do anything with my phone. I am sure I am missing something simple but I don't know what it is. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, android auto is a bit glitchy with sync 4a.

I had similar issues for a while where it wouldn't use data when the phone WiFi was on, with a wired connection. That problem went away after a week.

The last update forced AA to display the map on the top half of the screen, no longer can get anything but a map fullscreen. I keep location off so it just displays an error message on the top half.

At least you can still use fordnav with AA on.

I've experienced this intermittently on my Galaxy S10e

The latest tweak, is to go to the phones: Settings / Connections / Data Usage / Mobile data only apps/ then view all APPS and find the apps you want to communicate via mobile data vs wifi, make sure they are switched on.

With these settings the phone continues with the Projection SSID for AA while other apps use your mobile data 4g/5g etc.

What is working for me these days is turning off the wireless app projection network and using wired Android Auto.
