If only my keys were not in my backpack/pocket. One of our older EVSEs does not lock. I installed it summer 2013 with our Chevy volt and used that one with the xc90 and the xc90 evse with the volt. Eventually I got EVSEs from our local electric company for discounted charging. Unfortunately those lock, however the phev gets used far less (maybe a few days per month) than the full EVs at our house. The XC90 behavior annoys me to no end. Pressing “unlock” on the fob eliminates the door dance!
Granted AZ is pretty far from KS, but people fucking with charging cars is pretty rare, and I'm willing to bet on the decline. I've not once had anyone mess with my unattended charging car. Nor have I talked to anyone that has. Sure there's some vids online, and occasional forum/reddit/lemmy posts about it, but I'm willing to bet the likelihood is near 0 that it'll happen to you in any form. But if I have to go to the airport, to the city for a nice dinner, or travel to the neighnoring towns for work, this is when I worry.
