I have a 2022 Lightning Lariat EB, delivered August 2022 which has been wonderfully reliable. It is the most satisfying vehicle that I have ever owned. I recently checked the software history and noticed that the last update was October 2023. I also received a message on my FordPass that there is a suspected issue with my 12V battery. It will be looked at by my Ford Dealer tomorrow. Is there anything that I should discuss with them associated with these issues?

Ask them if you have any updates that can be loaded?
There are several which are expected to go by OTA, they might refuse to spend time with them since Ford won't cover the time spent, but IF the battery warning issue has a related {non-OTA} fix, this would be the perfect time to do it.

BTW, did you get the 12v BMS replaced already?

Thank you. The only work that has ever been done is dealing with the rear lightbar issue shortly after I took delivery and the windshield motor replacement. It has been in a couple of times where they downloaded software updates.

Your truck likely needs the improved BMS, hopefully they do the work for free, the CSP regarding that expired on 1/5/2025

I am very happy that all updates (many hours) were completed at No Charge. Everything seems to be working well.

I'd bring a case of beer to that technician!

I am very fortunate to have a wonderful service advisor who understands EVs and a Ford dealership who values their customers.

I have a Ford Home Integration System installed in my home. Like so many people who put their faith in Ford to deliver a fully tested product, I spent many months working with the Ford BEV Specialists who ultimately got my system to operate as designed. I have done simulated power outage tests every few months to restore my shaken faith in the HIS. It has not let me down.

After reading a few posts from HIS users that after more recent software updates their system no longer worked, I was very concerned. I just completed an outage test where I was holding my breath that it would work. I cut power to the main breaker and waited a few minutes. Nothing. I was told by a very senior technician that if the green lights do not come on at the charging port, unplug for a couple of minutes and then plug back in. I did that and after about 15 seconds the green lights appeared and a minute later the lights came back on in the house as power was being transferred from the truck. I cannot tell you how relieved I am. I am hopeful that the next time I lose power to the house that I won't have to perform this work-around, but we will see. Having confidence that this will always work reliably has not yet been possible for me, but I hope to have that confidence one day.

I bought the Lightning because of the Home Integration System. I was one of those early adopters of a '22 Lightning (Lariat EB) and the promise of using its 131 kWh battery as backup power for my home. The idea is excellent and now that it is working, it is wonderful. I just wish that Ford would not have put so many of us through the ringer. I cannot imagine the number of hours users have spent trying to get their systems to operate. I am hopeful that all of us who have bought into Fords promise will get their systems to operate reliably and fully restore our faith in Ford.

Having said all of this, I love this truck!! It is the most satisfying vehicle that I have ever owned.

After my recent visit to my Ford Dealership, my FordPass app says that it has software update 6.14.0. I do not know if this is the most recent software or not.

Thank you for pointing that out. That really helps understanding what is available and when. I need to get ECG-24.2.5.6.3 Maybe I have it now as a result of the dealer visit to update my software, but I don't know. How do I know what software has been downloaded to my truck?

There is no owner level clearinghouse for the status of various modules current software, you could reach out to a few members who have access to the back end data.

Track your updates from this point forward, keep a spreadsheet or document them in your signature.

If you send your VIN via DM to me I can look it up on FDRS or you can send a DM to @Mike G or @rugedraw and they can look it up on that or I think OASIS?? they know a lot more than I do!
