If you enter a destination in the NAV app, it is MUCH more accurate since it can at least determine what kind of driving you will be doing (Highway, city, mix). It doesn't account for headwinds/tailwinds but it is much more useful than the plain GOM.
I expect people would freak out more if they drive primarily highway and the GOM showed that low all of the time rather than closer to the EPA. There are dozens of posts on this now that the nights are getting cooler. It is a balance and most of us ignore the GOM as I did on my ICE. I know I can meet or exceed the rated range in town and I know I won't come anywhere close to it on the highway when it is cold.
