Overland Vehicle Camper Toppers - what did you buy and why?

I have an Overland equipped FJ with an off-road trailer, both with Rooftop tents and began exploring camper toppers for my 2024 Lightning. What did you pick or are considering and why?

Overland Bushveld hard shell tent on a bed rack. Cheap, compact, out of the airstream. I lowered my bed rack.

I have a ‘24 F150 Lightning Lariat. Just ordered a LEER 180XL with keyfob lock and folding/sliding cab side window. The 180 is a mid- rise to give me extra headroom. Plan is to open the back window to the truck and use HVAC to help dehumidify the shell. Surprisingly, I can fit a 7ft air mattress in the 67” length. It bows up on one end, so I comfortably stretch out my 6 ft frame with a slight incline. I was expecting to sleep diagonally - but this works fine. Shell will be here in about 6wks.

I have a small teardrop camper (TimberLeaf Pika Off Road version) that I had bought when I had the Mustang Mach E. I find the teardrop a better option for me because it'll easily tow with almost any vehicle, mine or friends'.

The two unbeatable advantages of a small camper (like my Pika) is its refrigerator and also its cabin propane heater.... those two additions make camping a 4-season activity. Not impossible in a standalone truck, but harder to achieve IMHO.

If not for that teardrop camper, I'd likely have gone with a RoofNest hard case platform tent + a small cooking setup that would break down into my Decked Drawers on the truck bed.
