Pre-purchase Inspection Ideas?

If you find something, chances are they won’t fix it. My center console looks like crap with some bowing plastic, I mentioned it, they just kinda shrugged and made some sort of comment about seeing 100k raptors with worse issues. Really made me question my decision…

Check the VIN #s for any outstanding CSPs and have the dealer complete them before delivery

Take it for an extended test drive, visit a DCFC station to see if it's able to charge for 5-10 minutes.

I mention this only because of a couple recent posts with brand new trucks failed to perform a charging session on first attempt, this is extremely rare, but as you know forums attract the troublesome cases while the bulk of trouble free buyer/owners never search out resources or log in to share their trouble free ownership experiences.

Don't let the negatives rattle you.

Check to ensure that CSP23B57 and CSP23B70 are complete. The only thing I ran up against that gave me a sour taste is the top-down fake drone camera view has alignment issues in the corners, the dealership has not been friendly post-sale about getting this fixed (direct contradiction to "it's got a warranty" statement above). Even after a visit, their distaste to work on anything EV (this is not an EV only feature) means they half-assed it and I still have blind spots in the corners

Don‘t sweat it.

I’ve purchased 68 new vehicles in my lifetime, which includes 12 new Ford trucks in last 10 years. All 12 Ford trucks have not had issues at delivery. I did walk away from one that had vibration at 60-65 mph.

My Lightning has been perfect after 5 months and 3500 miles.
One truck, a 2019 F-350 developed an intermittent electrical issue at 1 year ownership that required a Lemon Law Replacement. .

So my inspection includes
Inspect exterior for paint and panel alignment issues
Inspect interior for cosmetic issues
Take it for a long test drive on local and highway roads to make sure there are no abnormal vibrations, steering pulling etc.

Come back and sign the paperwork.
