Did you pay Tax to that $7K or it was deducted from total first and you pay tax on the actual cost of the truck to you?

Taxes for how to purchase a car are set by the state so there is a whole can of worms about one state to another.

Things like In California you pay tax on the purchase price without consideration of a trade in. So if the car was 40K you pay tax on 40K

In Tx you pay tax on the difference of the Car price -the trade in, So in Tx if you trade in a 20K car for your 40K new car you are Taxed based on 20K

Wow ! What an ordeal!
Glad it all worked out and Villa Ford has learned something.
Good to know that Ford regional manager helped to get the price protection up front.

While my '22 Lightning never had this issue; I do have a '23 MME incoming that will get a $6K PCO plus price protection so I may need the regional rep's contact info!

They never explicitly confirmed their rep told them how to do it. I told them how it was SUPPOSED to be done and they said no. They said they’d contact their rep in the morning and get back to me.

They called me the next morning and just said “we found the original DORA from your order date and we will use that invoice price instead of the most recent one”.

At no point did they acknowledge they were doing it wrong or that the rep confirmed I was indeed correct. They just said they could do it they way I told them they should have done it all along. At that point I didn’t really care whether it was the rep that told them or if they had a change of heart.

All I cared about was that I got the price protection up front. I wasn’t going to rub it in their face or anything but it was nice that I put my foot down because what I knew was right ended up being true.

I need to stop watching this thread, I'm getting really apprehensive about my (hopefully) upcoming delivery. :)
I have a situation similar to lots of folks here, May 2021 reservation for a Pro, got pushed back to a 2023 model, August 2022 order date, and now a January build date. So I should be looking at a price $12k less than current pricing.
The only indication I got that the original pricing would be honored was a message that popped up on my screen during the online order process. And of course I didn't do a screen shot, and when I backtracked and tried to find it I couldn't. So no emails, nothing in writing. When I look at my order on the Ford web site it shows it with the current base model pricing ($51,974), and that seems to be what others are seeing as well. Once I get closer to a delivery date I'll contact the dealer. I've learned a lot here so hopefully it will go smoothly.
On a side note, I was at the local Tesla service center last week picking up winter wheels and tires for my Model 3. In the time I was there (~40 minutes) I watched them do three new car deliveries. The longest one took maybe fifteen minutes.

My truck is not built yet but just came back from dealer. They found me in SMART VINcent, saw the $7K, revised my purchase order to include both the PCO and price protection no questions asked or argument. The deal is not done yet but I feel much more comfortable. I think anyone having problems, must be due to either ignorance or bad intentions on their dealer part. I highly recommend ironing out as many issues as you can ahead of time. If nothing else, it is good for your mental health.

p.s. For the first time, I saw and Test drove one (pro). Any doubts I had is gone. May be it is the transition from my 20 year old truck that played a part but the thing felt buttery smooth.

You are looking for this screen capture:

My understanding is that as long as you didn’t change your model from what you reserved, you will get the private cash offer in your account. Certificate number is your reservation number.

@KurtsRPMGarage don’t want to get your hopes up but I just stopped by the dealer (had a small scratch that I’ll need to get buffed out) and there were AT LEAST 3 Lightnings that Tony said just came in last night and we supposed to be customer deliveries!

So Mac Haik Georgetown Tx, held to the 7K PCO was good to go. After battling for 3 hours about the 5K they said that there regional manager said there is no grantee on the 5K but they will submit it and send me whatever ford sends them. I was told before I went in that this is how they would handle it and they held to it. This was on a my22 converted to my23 Pro

I bitched about the extra tax that I would be paying on that 5K so they did up my trade in offer 300 more than it was at to cover it.

With the trade I ended up paying cash for the remainder of the Lightning.

After I got out of finance my Sales rep said the regional manager called back and I have 2 codes for rebates the 7K and another one that they said they could not say for how much so he is sure I will get something.

I guess I should not bitch about how long it takes to make a transaction at the dealership because I always fight as hard as I can to get the best price I can. If I were to plop down the cash and not bicker about trade in it would go fairly fast lol.

The Lightning is great other than I am going to have range anxiety for a while. I do miss adaptive cruise and hands free unlock but I am sure I will get used to using my phone to unlock and "start" the lightning.

Everyone was nice enough and I did not get thrown out Like I have several times in the past lol.

@tsszen Oh man that would be incredible. When I drove by yesterday I did see an Avalanche Pro getting unloaded off a truck but it did not have the 360 camera or ultrasonic sensors so it likely wasn't mine. According to my tracker its still in transit. Fingers crossed though.

If they upped your trade in offer to offset the taxes and you paid cash for the rest it basically ends up the same as long as you eventually get the refund. If you financed you’d be paying interest on that extra 5k but it would be somewhat marginal. It still boggles my mind that this is an issue for people. They told me the same thing as they did to you and I just refused that accept that as an answer. However, if they call me back yesterday morning and said that they still wouldn’t honor it up front I wouldn’t have had any other choice. At least they made an attempt to offset the extra cost to you I suppose.

One I saw had the front light bar and one had the rear light bar, so those wouldn’t be pro models. I did see one light gray (not sure what color ford calls it) that didn’t have the rear light bar so that one could possibly be a pro
