I have the standard Pro Power (2.4 kw) on my 2023 Pro SR. I have occasionally used it to power small tools and, in one case, provide back-up power to a small house. It is one of my favorite features on the Lightning.

Recently, I started the vehicle and received a series of alerts on the center screen that included notice of an open cover on my Pro Power in the frunk, and then an extended message about using PPO in the frunk. After that, there was an alert that PPO service was required (see images). This all occurred during start-up; I was NOT using PPO.

I checked the outlet cover; it was closed. I opened and closed it to be sure. I still received the alerts on start-up.

Has anyone else seen this combination of alerts? Obviously, at some point I need to take it into the dealer, but since I am now out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty (43K+ miles), I'd like to have some idea of what I'm dealing with before doing so.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

This is a new one on me, glad I've thrown money at the extended warranty.

Most likely a sensor fault for the cover in the frunk. Make sure the cover is clean and closes properly.

Update: Before taking it to a dealer, I removed the side cover in the frunk and checked the wiring. Voila! A wiring harness running to the frunk’s Pro Power outlets had been partially chewed by a critter and a single low voltage wire had lost continuity. Some very careful surgery (after disconnecting the LVB) restored the connection. Cycling the power to the truck cleared the fault and Pro Power was returned to service. I suppose the chewed wire was for the outlet cover sensor. Sorta proud of my diagnosis and fix.

included notice of an open cover on my Pro Power in the frunk,
That one is funny to me. I discovered that the outlets in the frunk was open by a good inch. I had used it 10 days ago and may not have been in the frunk since. Last night I was grabbing something and noticed the cover open. I did NOT have a notice about it.

I don’t think you’ll get the message until you turn on PP.
