Not sure if this is the right forum for this question..... I was rear ended last week and my rear bumper is twisted and pushed in but no other damage as of yet. I didnt get any warning lights and haven't noticed any issues. The person hit me at a decent speed as their car was totaled. Anything I should be looking for or have the body shop look for?
thank you ahead of time

Look out for the body shops, find one reputable. Without seeing the damage it's hard to say what to look out for. Frame damage is possible but maybe it's just the bumper, hitch mount, spare tire and retractor, bumper mounts and attachments. Concerns would be the wiring harness for the lights and sensors back there.

Thanks...... the bumper is bent on the left side and pushed into the body so there isn't a gap. All the cameras and sensors still work. I think as their car dipped from the hard braking it nose dived and went under the bumper..... Hoping its just bumper and it'll just be a parts replacement. more concerned of an issue popping up a few months down the road battery or electrical related.

I had a similar situation. I backup into a car last month and damaged the rear end light. I thought that that would be the only part that needed to be replaced since everything else looked fine. They ended up replacing the bumper since there was no gap due to the accident. The bumper looked fine but they ended up replacing it.

I was rear ended last year. They essentially hit my hitch receiver. The was some minor visible scratches. I took it to my Ford dealer to have it checked out and they told me the whole hitch receiver needed to be replaced because of damage that wasn't visible from the outside.

When I was rear-ended last year, I ended up with a new bumper, hitch (out of an abundance of caution on the adjuster's part), tailgate, and the tailgate light bar (body shop noticed water in it before Ford recalled the part). Sensors were all still good.
