And I couldnt be more excited! I dont think I have ever been this excited for a rental car (other than the time I rented a Golf R in the canary islands!). Plenty of CCS chargers around me in South Florida but I did bring my A2Z adapter with me just in case.

My dealer gave me one (mach e GT) when my truck was in for several days to fix the modem. It’s a fun drive. It felt like a parallel universe because the interior system was basically the same. However, to me it didn’t have the same gut punch acceleration as my Lightning. I’m definitely seeing a lot more Mach e’s on the road lately.

It's awesome. Don't put it in Unbridled (sport) mode; you'll probably love it *too* much (I know I did on a loaner).

Well, unfortunately the rental car place did not have a Mach E available. Instead they gave me an Ioniq 5. So far, not too impressed with driving and handling. The interior is very nice and comfortable. Ill have 4 days to play with it and see how it holds up.

The Ioniq 5 makes the Lightning feel like a Bentley. The 1PD is terrible, and it has like 7 different settings, all just different mappings of the throttle pedal. The higher the setting the more the car jerks around and it becomes overly sensitive. When coming to a stop in 1PD, the car rolls back about 3 inches or so. No 1PD in reverse which was very unexpected. Also, when switching from R to D, it reverts to the generic 1PD mode and not the one you previously had it set to. No blended brakes.

DCFC was a pain because the menu isnt as intuitive as the Lightning. Also once you hit 80% it drops to 4KW for a couple of minutes before coming back up to 45KW or so. The DCFC pins are covered by a plastic piece tethered to the charge port mold instead of a flap like ours. Overtime I could see this breaking off. Sometimes the charge flap wouldnt open, not sure why. Also no weather seal for the chargeport so for only 16,000 miles on my rental, the chargeport looks like shit.

The throttle has a noticeable delayed response. You could exercise the full range of it back and forth quickly without the car ever moving. Even then if you floor it, it feels like the power delivery curve is conservative. If you step on the Lightning, it gives you what you want at the very moment you request it. The Ioniq 5 is much more subdued even for the AWD model. The interior is nice and comfortable, spacious as well. There is accent lighting that is pretty unique along the door panels.

You can open the hood but then the frunk has a separate cover you need to open. The size can fit a box of pizza (in the words of Raitis rides) and 2 packs of skittles for you and your friend. Just two cup holders, cant really fit a jumbo drink in there. My model did not have a wireless charger but had plenty of USB A, one 12 volt outlet but lacks a 120 volt outlet. Also, the headlights dont illuminate the road enough IMO, especially the highbeams. Very lackluster to say the least.

Overall, im glad I was given the Hyundai over the Mach E. It puts into perspective how much work Ford put into the Lightning. Yes, some other manufacturers have better features. For as much as some of us bitch about OTAs, Bluecruise, range, charge curves and other stuff, our trucks are refined, smooth, powerful, provide a fantastic driving experience and has really cemented my thoughts about it being the best electric vehicle in the market (bonus part… its a truck!) Fight me if you think otherwise.
