First “long trip” in the Flash. Lincoln Ca to Monterey Bay Ca. Navigation said I would make it there with 14% to spare, but stopped in Gilroy at Tesla Supercharger just to top off and stretch.

Screen said charging at 180-185 kw. I thought Lightning could only charge at 150 kw or less.

I figure 180 kw is what is available if I was driving a Tesla and, regardless of what the screen says, the Lightning is only pulling 150 kw.

Had to wait 2-3 minutes for a spot that didn’t block two chargers. I pulled right up to charger and slightly onto the curb (truck life 😜) to get the charging cable to reach.

Surrounded by Teslas but no dirty looks that I noticed.

Averaging 2.1 mi/kWh with average speeds ranging from 65-80 mph. Mostly 75 mph. Outside temperature of 65-70 degrees. Interior temperature set 71.

Super comfortable and plenty of available squirt when I had to accelerate past traffic.

Tried Blue Cruise, but I prefer to do the driving.

The Lightnings will hit 170-180kw for short period (10mins.) and the battery is at at a lower state of charge, if available and the temperature gods are smiling down on you.

Some believe Ford has tweaked the charging curve since introducing the truck, but doesn't not change the official specs. Seems reasonable to not change the official specs so as to reduce the number of complaints.

I tested mine in the cold the other day, topped out at 124 kW. The battery wasn’t warm from sitting on a 29 degree day.

I’ve definitely hit 175 or so for brief moments on some EA 350kw chargers on trips. Warm weather and sweet spot in the curve.

Early on I would try to be courteous and grab 150kw EA chargers and save 350kw chargers for those 400kw Hyundais and Kias, but the 150kw seemed to be a good 20% slower, so I started grabbing the fastest charger I could get.

Now I just go to Tesla because it’s so much easier.

The Lightning team really needs to get us that have 22-23’s the ipc update like the 24’s have that shows actual charging amount on the ipc. I’ve heard that it’s coming but I would think that’s a fairly simple update. The info is there in the truck just need to display it.

I did a trip to Indiana over Christmas and in 15-30F weather was hitting 170s each time in the beginning, then it moderated down into the 150s. Only saw these rates at Tesla chargers though.
