We're contemplating our first road trip in our 2024 Flash, from Minneapolis to Montreal, departing this weekend. We'd love to avoid the traffic of the Chicago area. I'm investigating the feasibility of taking a northern route through Sault Ste. Marie to Montreal. Using Plugshare, it looks like there is a stretch where charger availability is limited, from Blind River to North Bay. Has anyone taken this drive in a Lightning ER? Would we make it? We do have a Tesla adapter. It looks like there are Tesla chargers at the Esso in McKerrow, but Plugshare marks this as Tesla only. Has anyone successfully used the chargers at Esso with an adapter? Is it possible that Plugshare does not include all of the chargers in Canada? Is there a different trip planner that folks use in Canada?

I think all the Tesla locations in that part of Ontario are V2 so not available to CCS vehicles. There are some other charging options in Sudbury if you lower your filter requirements a bit. I charged at the Southside GM dealer no problem when I went through last year. There is a Petro Can there too; if it's working properly that is faster and cheaper.

If it says TESLA ONLY, you CANNOT USE IT. No matter what you do, it won't work.

You should set any software you use like PlugShare PROPERLY, so it doesn't recommend chargers you cannot use. In PlugShare "Hide Tesla Only".

No, PlugShare doesn't miss chargers.

Use ABRP.

Minneapolis to Montreal has 3 possible routes. 1) via Chicago. 2) Shortest route, taking ferry across from Milwaukee. 3) The route you want to take.

3) No problem with this route. You have a 170 mile stretch from Escanaba, MI to Sault St. Marie. Charge to 90% and drive 60mph to start, see how your efficiency is going, and pick us speed little by little as you get closer.

Petro Canada before Sudbury, Tesla in North Bay, Deep River, Nepean, ...

You can use the Tesla app to find the Gen3/Gen4 superchargers on your route.

Just one quibble - I love PlugShare, but to say it "doesn't miss chargers" is just not correct. It is crowd-sourced, so by it's very definition, people will find chargers that it doesn't know about yet. I myself have "added" two chargers that PlugShare did not know about. FWIW those chargers (both in Eastern Washington) were not on ABRP, either...

Fwiw I have observed a LOT of chargers identified on Plugshare well before they are operational.
