it clearly states there are no extended EV battery warranty past the factory 8 year / 100k miles.
Same for ICE. If the engine blows up after the warranty, it's on your dime. Always will be, that's why the price drops on all vehicles when it passes warranty coverage. By the time 8 years pass, I fully expect there will be cost effective battery replacement options from numerous suppliers.

I was forced into retirement a few years ago because of a severe hand disability, and I’ve found a sense of happiness by being somewhere else. Anywhere else. I drove 40,000 miles last year, and I’m not slowing down unless/until my hands force me to. This truck has taken me from Minnesota to both coasts and down to south Texas, and it’s been nearly flawless except for a module failure last January. It has 47,000 miles on it, and I’d be over 100K in less than two years. I can’t pay it off that fast, and I’d be one of the first to push past the 100K battery warranty.

I’d keep it if they had a demonstrated history of holding up past the warranty period, but that won’t exist for awhile. I expect it’ll be radiactive on the used market once the warranty expires, so I think I’m best selling now and finding something I can confidently put 200K on.

This is my fourth EV and I hate to go back to gas, but I’ve gotta get my priorities in order. Being somewhere else tomorrow is more important than driving a nice electric pickup. I know this forum isn’t an airport, and I don’t need to announce my departure, but I thought this was worth thinking about for others who drive lots of miles.

Dear Tom and fellow Lightning owner.
Are you kidding us all.???
Most of us are clamoring to do what you have done and above all enjoying every minute of it while you having a hand disability.
Most of us are worried what would happen to our knees and hips and our bodies reaching the fruitful age of 60 and what it will cost us to fix ourselves.
Tom……putting it in a nice way…..worried about the “BATTERY WARRANTY”.
You climbed the mountain and now you worried about getting down from it.?? Well, most of us are envious and somewhat jealous of your accomplishments. In fact I will not show your post to my wife because I will get to a lot of trouble. Her bucket list is long and I don’t have the time now to fulfill it.
I have owned battery vehicles, currently 2 EVs and a hybrid. Never had any issues with the batteries.
Keep the truck and run the axles off those motors and keep on seeing this country of ours with all its glory.
Don’t be afraid of the truck or its battery. Make the most of it and get your money’s worth out of it.
Good luck to you Tom.!!!

You’ve got a great eye!

Yup, I was there last month and it was one of the most amazing places I’ve seen. I’ll probably make it out there again next spring.

Tom, what was your efficiency on average with the Lightning while towing that teardrop trailer?

EDIT: I saw some range figures, but wasn't positive which trailer you were talking about. And when you say usable range, does that mean using like 80% of the battery, or?
