I’m showing my truck an an EV event tomorrow. I’m fine with people sitting in it etc but I’m worried about them starting it and possible driving it accidentally. How can I set it up so the display is on but the truck isn’t in jeopardy of someone starting it? I’ll be nearby with the key in my pocket and my phone too. maybe if the frunk is left open or the charge port let open that would act as a “safety”. Needs to have a “showroom mode”.

Take the battery out of your FOB.

No fob or PaaK inside, no start.

Taking my Mach-E. Done this before. No one sits in mine.

Start the truck in accessory mode. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone. Put the fob in a faraday bag.
I wouldn't leave it in accessory mode. AFAIK that will burn down the 12v battery and the HVB won't charge it.

Just take the key fob with you. The truck won't go out of park without fob in the cab. Test this for yourself first thought to be sure.

I wouldn’t either, but he said he wanted the screen lit up.

Sure. That's why he should start the truck normally and just take the fob. I guess it depends on how long the truck will be left on, but the 12v battery is pretty small.

Unlike the Mach-E, the Lightning will charge the 12V whenever it needs it. There was a post by Taxman with the relevant section of the manual.

This is what the manual says:

Your vehicle has a high voltage to low voltage energy transfer feature that keeps the 12 volt battery charged by the high voltage battery. If the 12 volt battery level is low, the high voltage battery transfers energy to the 12 volt battery when the vehicle is off.

So, it's not clear what happens in accessory or even running, but clearly it must keep it charged during running, so perhaps it also does in accessory mode.

Good day. disabled the phone and kept the fob far away but pretty much no one went to sit in the driver’s side. Fortunately
