Startup/shutdown sound on Platinum

Why did my truck used to play these sounds, now they come back every once in a while? now its just a dinging like I'm back in the 90s with a chevy. The mustangs make the cool startup sounds also. I have reset the 12v battery. that didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Maybe a low 12v? The regular ding dong song is played from the cluster, the cool sounds are played from the infotainment. Sounds like the infotainment isn't booting up fast enough so you're getting the default sounds. Just a guess.

For the price of the truck, make the dealer fix it. IMO

The four tones are a reminder to the driver to buckle up if you haven't done so.
Was your seatbelt fastened on the occasion(s) that the sound disappeared ?

NEVER MIND, your concern is change of tone, what was your most recent OTA?

If the system detects a fault in the audio system it will default to the cluster dings. I've heard a bad speaker could do it. On my old F150 it was very common for it to revert to the dings. Sometimes it would start dinging then switch over to the audio system. I think it's usually because the system didn't boot up fast enough for whatever reason.

I have had this same issue with my truck since I bought it in 2022. No fix for me as of yet, but I have not taken it in yet for the CarPlay no sound issue. Maybe that fixes it. @TaxmanHog - I have not received an OTA since August of last year. Trips to the dealer updated the modules to the latest at the time, but really frustrated with Ford. Love the truck, hate the dealer/OTA process.

That is interesting. My truck has never made any sounds, starting or turning off. The video is the first time I've heard those sounds. That would be annoying.

With the amount of problems I’ve had with my truck. Before it goes out of warranty I just really want to make sure it’s not something I need to get fixed.

^^^^^ usually this if it starts to happen regularly. If you haven't replaced the 12v battery yet, you may want to consider testing it - hopefully replace under warranty.

I’ll go to an auto part store and have them check it

Battery was tested good, at 90% I then charged it just to be sure afterwards.

Good news. It can be also caused by a Sync update, but that is usually a one-off and doesn't happen repeatedly. Even other updates that draw down the 12v battery could cause the Sync system to shut down to conserve power. I've had it happen after several days of non-use or a couple of days of driveway shuffling with no real driving. In any case, if your battery is good and it doesn't happen regularly, it isn't something to worry about.

Try a Sync restart if you haven't already. With the truck running, press and hold the volume down and the skip right buttons on the steering wheel simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the screen restarts. That will restart the Sync and hopefully clear its brains.
