Did you have yours stolen? Because I thought just locking your truck with the tailgate up was enough.

Like most Lightning things, this is not just Lightnings, this is all trucks, and has been an issue for decades. In the old days, many didn't lock. If it's locked, it can't be opened, or stolen.

You can put a radiator clamp on the right side, screw pointing down so it's hard to access to feel better. Any lock is simply wasted money.

No. I just saw the article this morning. It said his was locked but still stolen? " Hay said his truck was parked on a well-lit street near the theater and the tailgate was locked. There was a secondary tailgate lock attached to the truck well. ".

He also said it is a $10,000 tailgate….

Keep in mind a 2014 F-150 lock is not the same as our power actuation opening locks and motors of today. My 2017 Silverado had locks and when the truck was locked, there was not a way to open it.

If you have a tonneau cover and keep your tailgate closed and locked, you likely won’t be a target.

It does. I have one on mine, but as others have stated, it really does not add much if any security.
Yeah, I had one on my Pro. It's only going to be beneficial if you accidently left your tailgate unlocked, or if the lock gets picked.

Some people are installing the LatchLid to slow down thefts and prevent thieves from using a coat hanger to release the tailgate latch. Looks like for 2024, Ford did something useful for once and redesigned the tail gate. See => 2024 F150 Owners. I would still probably replace the screws on the tailgate work surface cover and taillights with theft proof screws on a '24s to maybe slow down the scum that try to mess with our trucks.
