I have a long trip planned for the middle of February and I was really hoping to use the NACS adapter. I have given up hope and Iโ€™m planning a non-Supercharger route.

There is a great possibility the whole NACS adoption thing was a PR stunt by Elon and Farley. There is no guarantee at all that anyone is getting adapters or integrated NACS ports and if it happens there is no timeline sadly.
Exactly. I see posts all the time from people who say they are waiting to buy an EV until they can buy one with a Tesla connector. By throwing uncertainty into the market Tesla has slowed down their rivals. Iโ€˜m sure it has also had an effect on charge point operators who were planning to build CCS stations, especially if they were near a Supercharger. And also think of how much R&D the other carmakers have thrown at redesigning for a connector change instead of adding new features. Since the rollout requires Fordโ€™s software to work with Teslaโ€™s they can probably drag this out for years. My guess is that Tesla was smart enough to put in a liquidated damages clause that will allow them to walk away from the deal for a fraction of the actual cost of the damage it will do to Ford. I try to be optimistic about this and really hope it comes through but nothing Tesla does gives me a good feeling.

I dont think it requires much of any software. If a Magic Dock is open you can use it right now as long as you have the Tesla App and have signed up, it should be the same with an Adapter. The difference is a change in how Ford Pass will talk to Teslas Network.

Tesla has no choice but to see this through. If they back away many customers will be left sour and will most likely never consider a Tesla. Tesla is slowly losing EV sales, their new Highland Model 3 offers very little, meaning no one is running to Tesla to order. They really have no choice.

.
Yeah, but Fordpass struggles to talk to Fordโ€™s network.

once all Superchargers have the 'CCS adapter' Magic Box built in, it won't matter...

There is a near zero likelihood of this. Telsa committed to 3,500 by end of 2024. They're turning on 15,000 with a user-supplied adapter by Spring. I can't imagine they'd have people buy adapters then make them irrelevant.

"I try to be optimistic about this and really hope it comes through but nothing Tesla does gives me a good feeling." - I don't understand the angst toward Tesla - they have singularly built a reliable network of chargers across the country - how many have Ford or GM or Kia or others built to help their customers? I'm grateful an agreement has been reached by Ford & Tesla to allow us use of Tesla's supercharger network. I waited patiently for fourteen months after I placed my order for my '22 Lariat ER - I can wait a few months for this game-changer.

No adapter will work TODAY.

No adapter is guaranteed to work TOMORROW. Tesla has to allow them to work. Don't buy anything without a return policy if you can't use it.

There is zero possibility of this. While Musk is irresponsible and couldn't give a crap about anything, Farley is the CEO of a public company. You can't make announcements of things that impact the share price, like this clearly would, and then not have it implemented. Ford issued press releases specifying Spring 2024. It isn't a what if, it's a when.
You are correct and wrong at the same time. Ford is 100% ready, They could have bought and shipped MagicDock adapters a year ago and let people use the Tesla app until FordPass integration was ironed out. They didn't because they are at the 100% mercy of Elon. Elon or any other advisor to Tesla could decide at any time to add chargers to the "charge your non-Tesla" group, They could also see some results they don't like and pull the chargers back out. Nobody in the public knows the details of any agreements that were made or Tesla's care to honor them. There is already massive overcrowding of SCs in Texas, CA, and other states. They will very likely never make those open. Additionally, there are billions of dollars being spent this very second on CCS sites and by the end of this year they will eclipse superchargers in many areas. They're also exist the possibility that Ford and Tesla are watching how everything is playing out and actively deciding to delay. Nobody knows and nobody should get their hopes up.
