I can’t wait for this update to come OTA but it will probably disable something silly on the car probably like charge locations. Oh wait they already did that.
I literally cannot stand Ford connected navigation it’s one of the worst navigations I’ve ever seen

Hi F-150 Lightning owners,

We’re excited to announce that compatible Tesla Superchargers are coming to Connected Navigation! This feature will be available from the factory for the 2025 F-150 Lightning.

Here’s how it will work:

Adapter Needed

To charge at Tesla Superchargers, you’ll need a Fast Charging Adapter.

Now when you start a route in Connected Navigation, you will see a new toggle: Fast Charging Adapter needed.

01 - Toggle.jpg

If you don’t have an adapter, or don’t have it with you, turning this toggle off will remove stations that require an adapter from route plans and the charger search view. To restore Tesla Superchargers to route plans and charger searches, toggle it back on.

To learn more about charging with adapters, please visit ford.com/fastchargingadapter
To purchase a Fast Charging Adapter when available, please visit go.ford/fordadapter

Routing With Tesla Superchargers

When starting a route to a destination, Connected Navigation will automatically calculate if charging is required. If the Fast Charging Adapter needed toggle is enabled, Connected Navigation will choose from all DC Fast Chargers, including compatible Tesla Superchargers and other fast chargers which require an adapter.

When a station is added to your route plan, charge stops will have a unique icon to indicate which stops require an adapter:

Stations which require an adapter will be noted with an image of the NACS plug:

02 - NACS POI Highlight.jpg

Stations which do not require an adapter will be noted with a blue charging station:
03 - CCS or J1772 POI Highlight.jpg

Finding Superchargers Manually

To locate chargers manually, tap Where to? and then tap Chargers.

Compatible Tesla Superchargers are all Ultra Fast (120+ kW), so to find them easier, tap the Ultra Fast filter. They will appear in the list display:
04 - Tesla In List.jpg

If Tesla Superchargers don’t appear, make sure the Fast Charging Adapter needed toggle is on by searching for a destination and confirming the status of the toggle.

Note that you can also use Connected Navigation to find chargers in another location, or only ahead of you along your active route. To change where you’re looking at chargers, tap the Search Near menu at the top of the screen and choose from the available options:

05 - Search Near.jpg

  • My Current Location – Find the chargers closest to your location, in any direction
  • My Destination – Find chargers near the destination of your active route
  • My Active Route – Find chargers that are ahead of you along your active route
  • Another Location – Search for chargers anywhere.
Incompatible Chargers

Not all Tesla Superchargers are open to non-Tesla vehicles. When you enter a destination Connected Navigation will only include stations that are open to Ford vehicles in your route plan. However, to provide a complete listing of all charging stations, stations that are incompatible are listed when manually viewing chargers unless the Available and Open filter is selected. These stations will appear accompanied by a ⛔ symbol.

06 - Incompatible Tesla In List.jpg

If you manually select these chargers, you may see a warning message appear notifying you that you have selected an incompatible station. If you aren’t expecting to see this message, select Cancel Route and choose another charger.

I hope Apple Maps will have access to this information. Or maybe they have to do it themselves. I don't know, but I've yet to figure out the Ford nav and just keep using Apple Maps

I'm reasonably certain that all Lightnings including my early '22 build will get this via OTA. If I am wrong, this is the last Ford I will ever own.
I've had much worse issues with other OEMs, that is the problem for me with saying things like this.

I also owned a 5.4 3V, so there is that as well. Pretty reliable so long as you give it a full timing job every 100K or so.

It's announcements like this that make Ford's software deficiency look even worse than it is.
As I posted after a recent similar announcement, Ford refuses to recognize that this is a Lightning owners forum, not a sales tool, but a service tool. wince 2025's have just started shipping it's safe to say there are zero 2025 owners here but thousands who have 2022, 2023, 2024's.

Why did it take a year to get these added to the database? Many of us have had the adapters since April or May of last year and it’s been infuriating dealing with the navigation and having to use the Tesla app while driving to try and locate compatible superchargers along our routes? Ford did great to get the agreement with Tesla and solve the biggest issue with the Lightning, but leaving them out of the navigation database was just insult to injury. Glad the wait is finally over

I think it’s easy for us to forget how revolutionary it’s been that nowadays our phones, computers, etc. get better after we have bought them through software updates. Cars are getting that way but that is a seismic shift. Eventually the manufacturers will realize that it is a good thing and will help them sell more cars but it’s taking a good long while. It’s longer than I would like because I am an early adopter and impatient by nature, but I can say 100% that my lightning is in fact better than it was when I drove it off the lot (bluecruise lane change, Tesla charging, etc). That’s the first time I’ve ever been able to say that about any car purchase. Hopefully they will continue to improve their development and distribution cycle. Eventually they will come out with some awesome new feature that is not backward compatible because it requires new/different hardware and a lot of us will want to upgrade and hopefully our current trucks will be worth more because of the updates that have happened along the way, enabling us to upgrade.

@Ford Motor Company ,
Why do you have to post it here? If you put this type of information in the manual in a useable format then we would not need it here. I'm glad you are getting the word out for the 2025 owners but...as a 2024 owner I find the manual annoying to navigate on the touch screen and lacking information.

I would like to know if there is a SOC where AWD is no longer engaged. (There is a thread on here that seems to make it sound like it is not fully active to 0% which would be good to know)

I would like to know what updates I do have so I know what features to plan on (like adding superchargers to route planning)

I would like to know when will my truck heat my battery while it is not running. Instead I'm trying to learn from the -15 degree cold soak thread. Does it heat at 0f? Does it heat to 32f when plugged in? I keep it in a garage but it's gets cold (~30f) in the garage. And I'm glad for the information I am learning from the forums on here but I would have fewer questions of odd behavior if it was not odd but expected because it was in the manual or other document.

When does the acceleration behave differently? If you have full power a non motion sickness inducing launch is not expected behavior. Is it because the battery was below mid point but above power limiting?

I'm all for my truck doing what it needs to do because the engineers decided it needed to I just want to understand what my truck is doing when it acts strangely/differently than expected.

So I like the information you are trying to give new owners....just letting you know some things are lacking. These trucks are very different than ICE (where you can have AWD or 4x4 until you run out of gas, you can have all acceleration at 0f)

Hmmm... "available from the factory for the 2025 F-150 Lightning" is pretty much nobody here - we are owners of already made F-150 Lightnings from 2022-present.

So it is kind of a slap in the face to tell us about things we could use now, but won't have unless we buy a 2025 F-150 Lightning, see?

Unless you are going to make these features available to earlier models, @Ford Motor Company ...

One benefit to being in a charging desert...there is no confusion as to where the Tesla Superchargers are located...because they are largely 80-140 miles apart. I was laughing inside about "set it as my favorite"...because all 4 on my 400 mileish stretch are my favorite.
