I tried testing the new A2Z adapter today at a Tesla Fast charging station via the Tesla App but it would not start. The Tesla App errored and indicated my Vehicle would not charge at this time.

The other two Tesla charge centers in town 1. Older Tesla only chargers and did not show in the app to be active with the adapters. 2. New station with 18 Superchargers, none operational at this time. possible vandalization.

The Truck is set to go to 100% for the test, the current charge in the truck is 90%

I can use other Level 1 and 2 chargers at home and work.

I would like to feel comfortable using the Tesla chargers, if we take a road trip.

Just to confirm, are you using the A2Z Typhoon Pro adapter that looks like this?

That is the correct adapter.

I normally use the Plug & Charge option that Ford has for Tesla and Electrify America. It works every time.

Just a note; some Tesla Superchargers will limit your charge to 80% in high use areas. It is usually clearly stated on the Tesla app if that is the case. Unlikely that is what happened, but possible since you were at 90% ..

I will drain it below 80% this next week and try again. I normally only drive around 20 miles a day on my ER 2024 Flash

I had 2 times, with Plug and Charge OFF, that Tesla failed and Ford took over. Very annoyed.

With my A2Z Typhoon Pro, I used the Ford mobile app to activate the Tesla station charger. I did find that I had to really push the Tesla charger into adapter quite hard until I heard the audible click of the Tesla cord locking into place. The first time I put the Tesla cord into the A2Z adapter, I didn't push hard enough, and it gave me an error. The second time I tried after getting it locked in, it charged fine. However, I did notice that the Ford app didn't track the charge even though the app started the charging. The truck itself tracked the charge, so in the end it all worked ok for me.

Not sure if mine is the same model as yours, but I finally noticed the lock button on the bottom of the adapter the third time I tried to use it. Of course, I didn't read the instructions first....I'm a man.

At one site I had errors on two dispensers. The Tesla V3s and V4s have cabinets that feed 4 dispensers each. I got the error on dispensers 1A and 1B so I moved to 2A and it worked. If there’s a problem with the control board that manages the CCS protocol then it seems that none of the dispensers on that cabinet will work so if you have an error try moving to a dispenser with a different number.

I had my very first Tesla station error the other day. It was a very busy station and I couldn't try another charging unit. I did try to turn off the Ford plug-and-charge, and use the Tesla app (my preference anyway), and it still didn't work. So likely a faulty unit/cord/card, etc. I went to a different Tesla station and had zero issues (using the Tesla app, I have always had mixed results with Ford's plug-and-charge so I'm no longer going to even try to use it anymore).

Look in plugshare and see if the location has any reports of non-teslas charging successfully. If there is a silver collar behind the nacs connector, then that is an older V2 supercharger (150kW) and only works for Teslas. If no silver collar, it's possible that the station is just too new and hasn't been activated or Tesla has reserved it as Tesla-Only likely due to traffic.

Great idea! In my case, I just checked and for the station that didn't work for me, there are many successful non-Tesla check-ins. Just bad luck for me that day!

You could just have my luck. Went to the Outer Banks here in NC back in late April. Newish Tesla Supercharger location (came online Nov 2023) right beside a restaurant with successful check-ins the week before. Jackpot! Not so Fast! For some reason or another the location quit working for non-Teslas and ended up being mid-June before it started working again.
