That is not a problem of the free market or capitalism. That is a problem with the manufacturer not marketing the product properly. A better widget with proper marketing will always win in the end. What needs to be done is get the government out of picking winners and losers such as what is happening now. Obviously, there needs to be regulation to control corruption and greed too.
Not at all, that IS a problem with a free market.

It's not a manufacturing of a better widget. It'd that the existing widget has had ten, twenty, fifty years to drive the cost down. The new widget can't enter the market, the existing product is cheaper. The new product can't get cheaper, you need to sell it for five, ten years till you can optimize.

Nothing starts fully optimized. That IS what the free market does, that's why we like it, competing products drive optimization. However that doesn't happen overnight, it takes a while.

Too much for me to unfold. I get your point, but that is not my experience.

Ok, since I got it in writing I'm good, lets go have a glass of wine.
Absolutely. Iā€™m a bourbon šŸ„ƒ guy so Iā€™ll hit that, just doing my part to be a ying to the yang on here and remind everyone that EVā€™s should not be a partisan topic. I am proudly conservative and proudly drive an evā€¦ and if you want greater adoption you need to embrace the other 50% not alienate them

Regardless it is a recognized item. I wish I had more info but my last experience with it was ten years ago in some macro-economics courses as instructed by the team of the economics department

OK, I agree, but what is happening now is not conservatism. I try to be moderate myself. I would be much happier with someone who is actually just a real conservative and followed the constitution and the law. The wine comment was for fun. I am a bourbon man too, last week at the concert I had 2 Woodford Reserve semi neat, they have to put one cube in it.

About half of us knew things were going to be bad, but we were just hoping it wouldn't be so swift and severe. The other half will never admit to anyone that their support was even a little bit of a mistake.

Anyone who is surprised did not bother to read Project 2025. It's all written down. They weren't hiding anything.
True, but the guy 49% voted for said he knew nothing about it, and they believe whatever he says.

This is why I like this forumā€”I couldnā€™t even remember what this thread was supposed to be about, but I am still reading it because I value all of your opinions (even if some of them are valued much lowerā€”jk).

Seriously, we need to have honest discourse where we truly try to understand and learn from each other. This is how we stay united and realize that even if we donā€™t share the same opinions, maybe we can still share a bourbon!

It is not possible for a public company to regulate itself. They are beholden to the shareholders. It does not matter what morals or traditions they violate they are bound by law to maximizes the value of the shareholder stake. So if it requires that they pollute the environment or take advantage of the private citizens it's the law.
It BECOMES the law because money is free speech and us regular folks don't have enough "volume" to be heard.

John Lennon: "Keep 'em doped up on religion and sex and TV ..." I'd add "Social Media" but it's hard to rhyme

How about "Keep 'em doped up on religion, sex, X, and TV ..."

American Airlines Admirals Clubs will no longer serve neat, either. At least 1 cube required. Disappointing.
