My gues

if you can get the same same truck for $14k less plus 0% interest you want the 24. Vs. ordering a 25
There's a good chance the $7500 tax credit will be history by the time any 2025 makes it to any dealership.

2025's have been produced since Jan 6th. It will be at least late April or early May before a reconciliation bill can make it through Congress to the President's desk. And that is if they can accomplish everything in one bill (doubtful). If they can't get it in one bill, a tax only reconciliation bill will be done later in the year. The tax reconciliation, I believe, is what will be used to eliminate the rebate.

You have a couple of months, at least. But, to the people sitting on the fence, you shouldn't wait too long if the tax credit is something you are counting on.

This is for platinums. They don’t qualify for the $7500

Maybe, but I'll bet he signs an executive order and tries that first. Of course that could tie things up in court and buy some time for people to take advantage well into the year.

That is true. I'm not sure how much money you need to have/make before $7500 doesn't matter, and I never will.

When I was looking around in the summer and fall of 2023, I found motivated dealers on-line who were even willing to ship/truck the vehicle to my front door (like a carvana type of delivery) from NJ to Virginia.

I was looking for a particular model and options however, and that was hard to find (Pro with towing package and 9.6kW pro-power on-board), the Pros were only being sold to fleet customers at the time. And some dealers were adding mark-ups, or only had the high-end trucks near or over $80k.

I waited and it worked out for me.
By Dec. I found a local dealer with a lot full of Lightnings, who was motivated to sell them (at a discount), Ourisman Ford Manassas, Virginia.

Anyway, good luck.
Ourisman in Manassas is always good to deal with. My sales guy is Jason Clark - a straight shooter (literally). Even during the heyday of the Lightning, I was not charged any dealer markup and mine was the first one that they delivered to a customer.

And they ship to customers nationwide!

Even uber-rich people like government subsidies - like oil execs and other billionaires, like EV company CEOs...

In case anyone is wondering, the income test is based on adjusted / modified gross income of some sort...

----per the IRS web site---

your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:
  • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly or a surviving spouse
  • $225,000 for heads of households
  • $150,000 for all other filers
You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the 2 years, you can claim the credit.

If you do not transfer the credit, it is nonrefundable when you file your taxes, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.
-----

I took mine up front / transferred it to the dealership.

Still have to fill out a form on tax return about it though...at least it is electronic now, remember the days of paper forms?

So I'll bet 90%+ of the platinum buyers have income that exceeds the tax credit AGI requirement.
