Got my extended range Platinum in early July and charged it up to 100% a couple of times due to some trips. Each time charged to over 300 miles both at home and at electrify America charger. Then set it to charge to 80%. Just did normal daily driving for several weeks plugging it in to charge at home once a week or so for several weeks.

Then set it to 100% to take a trip and only went up to about 240 miles and said fully charged. Went on my trip with no other issues and got a service appointment about a week later. Took it in and they said they couldn’t find the problem. When they find a solution they will call me to return for service. Everything else works except climate control has a mind of it’s own sometimes.

Seems to me they could wipe the charging software in my truck and reload it like I do on my computer when it has a hiccup but I am no expert. Very nice truck except for the range issue. Will keep you posted.

How about 80%, 240 miles or 190 miles? If your driving habit makes it to show 240 miles intead of 300 miles, then nothing wrong with the truck. If you drive a lot freeway 240 miles should be true.

Otherwise, it could be a software bug.

There is a reason it is called a guess-o-meter. 99% chance there is nothing wrong with you truck.

Hey Ford. This is why you should display percent charge on the driver display. Yes, it is ok to display miles to empty, but percent charge is way more useful. Knowing how fast one is burning though battery charge allows one to estimate range remaining. It also tells a driver how much charge is in their battery. Our phones don't show hours of capacity remaining. Driving history and current temperature all affect predicted burn rate and burn rate times charge remaining give you range. Given a bit of experience and you will get a feel for your expected burn rate and if you have percent displayed you will be able to estimate range. Example: drive 40 miles and reduce charge by 15 percent and there is 60 percent remaining. (60/15 x 40 miles = 160 miles remaining if you are going to drive like you have been for the past 40 miles). If range remaining is displayed and you were doing a lot of low speed, high efficiency driving the estimate may be higher and you would have to notice in the next 15 miles you burned 20 miles of range (is something wrong with the truck? No, just the range algorithm is not matching your driving). Our Bolt at 100 percent charge could have anywhere from 130 to 310 miles of range displayed (70 degrees and lots of city or under 50mph driving recently vs -20 degrees with gear set to 66 and 60mph+ driving). GOM guess-o-meter is right.

The percent of charge is on calm screen.
And you can also see the gauge on the main screen to get an approximate value.

Ford should still have the number on the main screen.

Should they also wipe the software on an ICE F-150 when it says 550 miles to empty but said 625 on day 1?

Wait until you get an update that wipes your driving history and it again displays 300, until it doesn't.

All that matters is mi,es per kWh x battery size for knowing your range.

Hey there. I'd like to take a closer look at your Lightning's charging issues. Can you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer?

I have HUGE anxiety when it comes to the winter.
After going through one with my Mach-e, don't worry so much. Your lowest range in the winter will be in slow around town driving when you haven't pre-heated the battery (since it is using the energy to warm everything up). But that is also when you don't really need the range. On a longer trip, the range hit isn't has bad because everything has time to warm up. For even better results, set a departure time and have the battery warm up while plugged in.

My issue is where I take my truck to my hunting cabin. There is no 240 volt/50 amp plug. closest DC charger is an hour away. Temps get into the teens often. That does have me concerned, not going to lie.

I also live in the city and park on the street. I will have to figure out a way to have my truck plugged in while the cord goes across the sidewalk. Not sure how I'm going to manage that.

From a liability standpoint, going across the sidewalk won't work. If you do a search online, you'll find people that have installed locked outlets / chargers at the street with permission of the city, etc.

Just wait till winter when it only charges to 190 miles. 😄
I'm going through that now. I drove around 60 miles today, mainly on 55 mph highways achieving around 1.5 to 1.6 mpk. Returned home and charged to 80% and ended with 161 miles to empty.
After some calculations, that came out to be pretty accurate. 80% of 131 = 104.8 kwh.
Multiple that by 1.5 & 1.6 comes to 157.2 &
167.68 miles to empty.
