Wanted to make everyone aware that the legend @JHForman812 who brought us the missing lighted cupholders, media bin, and glove-box lights mod has documented how to get color-changing ambient lighting on the newer F-150 models and hopefully this applies to the our Lightnings. Apparently Ford finally fixed a bug in the APIM that affected color-changing.

In this post on the ICE forum he has added part numbers for making the ambient lights color changing. This is for the cupholder, foot wells, and door panels. These new part numbers have color changing LEDs instead of ice blue. You will need a new harness since the connector is different.

You will also need to make a change in Forscan to enable selecting the color via Sync.
APIM 7D0-01-02 xxxx xxxx Ax-- (change 9th byte from a "B" to an "A").

The glove box and media bin remain one color as they are powered off a different source. If you have already done the lighted cup holder mod, you just need the new part that has the color-changing LED instead of ice blue. No need to buy the cup holder again.

Note ambient lighting is a feature of Lariat and above. Although I think folks with ICE XLT's have enabled it by adding in the wiring and connection to the BCM.

I have not done this mod but I did make the Forscan change temporarily to show you what it would look like in Sync 4A. It's the same screen the Mach-E has.

(Yep, this is a Mach-E interior)

Here is the relevant text from his post. I priced the parts around $400 excluding harness.
---------------------------------------------------------------
If you want color changing lights since it can now be done in the trucks here is the parts list

HC3Z-14A318-E color change cup holder lights
ML3Z-1513562-CB cup holder(it will come with blue lights that you gotta remove and install the above part number)
FL3Z-14A318-L floor lights(qty 2)
FL3Z-14A318-N floor lights(qty 2)
FL3Z-13C724-D Wire Assembly (Driver-side front door)
FL3Z-13C724-E Wire Assembly (Passenger side, rear door)
FL3Z-13C724-F Wire Assembly (Driver side, rear door)
FL3Z-14A318-Y Wire Assembly (Passenger side, front door)

the ones I have listed as floor lights you need 4 total, these will be direct fit in the cutouts ford has already. You could probably honestly order 4 of either one and have no problems.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO GO COLOR CHANGE YOU NEED TO TELL THE PERSON BUILDING YOUR HARNESS THAT YOU WENT COLOR CHANGE. THE CONNECTORS IN THE FRONT FOOT WELL AND THE CUP HOLDER WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN JUST USING THE ICE BLUE LIGHTS.

Once you have changed out all the lights, here is the FORScan mod documentation to change Ambient Lighting Type (ALT) in the Sync menu. Since the Lariat has 3 memories and wireless charging, you will change 7D0-01-02 byte 9 from "B" (ALT Single Color) to "A" (ALT Pantone).

APIM 7D0-01-02 xxxx xxxx Ax--
Basically if you had something else, you would subtract 1 from whatever value you had.

if youve already done the lighting mod, and now want color change there are 2 things that will have to happen. The cup holder lights will need changed, the connector will be opposite so youll have to cut the connector off and swap it over, the same will go for the front passenger foot well. the others will plug in directly. the drivers side you will need to shave the keying ridges off but thats not big deal once the ridges are removed it will plug right in.

Okay that's pretty cool, finally a way to add back a feature that should have never been deleted. One question though: You mention having to swap out the footwell and cupholder lights, but what about the lights on the door panels front and rear? Are those already multi-color LEDs or is there just no way to address those?

You have to swap every light.

So the harness we have today has just a single spot blue LED for the upper half of each door. Ford changed wiring harnesses which deleted the LED on the lower half of each door like many other things they deleted. There is a different mod with different part numbers where you can change out the door light wire assembly to one that has both upper and lower LEDS in ice blue. The lower LED has a long thin plastic diffuser and made to illuminate the slot you will find right above the "umbrella" storage.

With the part numbers in this this mod, you get both upper and lower LEDs AND color changing. Although the part number description says wiring assembly, they actually contain two LED lights if you look closely. Here is FL3Z-13C724-E Wire Assembly (Passenger side, rear door). Upper spot LED circled in red. Lower slot LED circled in green.

Ahh I see, okay, but basically the door lights always stay the same color, blue? Even before they deleted the feature, those never changed?

For our trucks, yes, have always been only blue. Just like the foot well lights.
