There's gonna be a bunch. Ford's not evil, will do their best. This logistics stuff is hard folks. It is fascinating to watch people feel entitled to a product after a company announces something they want it suddenly becomes a need - and they get all ass-hurt when they haven't been coddled, cuddled, fondled, or whatever in the process. And then, like a jilted or ignored lover, they get petulant and hostile, cancelling orders (as if Ford or whomever the manufacturer is cares), raging on forums. I have seen this in all kinds of places for new products from new Apple iphones, to new BMW motorcycles, every Tesla, even Hobie Cats, cameras, bicycles, drones, and certain guns. Companies are just people - and they don't always communicate as much as they or we would like. It will all work out. Meanwhile, let's enjoy the season.

In fairness to Ford, you do see the 15,000 first year production number in EVERY referenced article with the automotive media citing Ford sources, from "anonymous" to CEO Farley, sources that many in the automotive media have had for years and which have proved reliable.

The same "anonymous" MachE numbers proved accurate so preponderance of evidence points to the 15,000 +/- next year, 2022. 2023 would seem the year Ford could increase production. Which is what we see in the articles where it is stated Ford is "doubling 2023 production to 80,000".

"2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Production Will Be Limited In First Year On Market"

As article notes, Ford will likely be happy if it can get the 15,000 F150EV's in 2022 with the various supply issues.

Seems to be an issue for some, others who put down $1k in 2016 for a delivery in 2019, it's SOP for new model EV's.
You keep posting more and more articles confirming what people have tried to explain all along... Which is that lots of articles are speculating on 2022 production numbers but Ford has declined to comment on that info.

Someone even posted a video of Darren Palmer stating in no uncertain terms that the 15,000 number you keep repeating is inaccurate. The articles you posted continuously do the opposite of what you say. You keep saying the articles cite Ford for that 2022 number, and then when we open them we see that Ford clearly was not cited for that number.

A news article claiming Ford will or will not do something is not the same as an article citing Ford as a source. I don't think you understand what citing a source means at this point.

Sigh...ALL the automotive media with long history of reliable industry contacts give the same 15k number based on the information their contacts provide.

ALL of them.

You choose to ignore it.

I choose to believe it as it they have proven accurate in the past on MachE production numbers with the same public and anonymous sources at Ford.

Time will tell.

Ford also has legal reasons not to try to post some guess of production in terms of stock holders rights.

I see no reason Ford won't produce as many as they can if all goes well. However, a look at typical shelves makes me think supply and demand will still be at odds.

Farley and Musk have this interesting relationship where there may be a bit of competition between the two. Every Lightning sold is one less Cybertruck on the streets. Farley will build as many Lightning Trucks as he possibly can.

They predicted 50,000 for the mach e in 2021. They hit that number by the end of summer with several more months left in the year.

I would not call that accurate.

You gotta give it up. ?

I get the feeling that if Ford builds 20,000 Lightnings by Dec 31 2022, we will hear some claim that's confirmation that the 15,000 prediction was accurate.

Yet it would be a ~30% increase.

I have no idea how many they have to build to nix that prediction. Lol

Note, it is a prediction for model year 2022, not calendar year 2022. That has been getting messy lately, but usually the transitions for model year production is around October.

Good point.
But recent comments by FORD have been quoted as stating build quantities FAR exceeding 15,000 by dates rather than year-model.
Example: the desire to reach the rate of 80,000 by January 2023. It's reasonable to speak in date specific terminology just as much as it is in model year terminology.

We the people are the ones with the self imposed angst over interpreting it in the manner that we choose.

And they did 60,000. I'd expect similar order of magnitude on the F150EV. Planned 15,000 might get to 18,000 in '22.

Ford has been accurate with the numbers they've been providing to the auto media.

Did you just imply that you think they WILL build more than 15,000?
Or 12,000. The 15,000 number that Ford has been putting out in the media is likely accurate as with the MachE.

Wasn't that just the original Ford number at launch? I think it has been revised since then.
It has been revised but no one outside Ford knows what they are really planning. Even Ford doesn't know what they will actually reach.
