Starting to look at how I can take the $11k saved on my pro from XLT and make it better. The seats have me concerned. Less around their functionality (manual etc) but more around their bolstering and comfort

if I went with katzkin or some other seat cover solution that would cost about $1000 for the front seats I believe but does it just add leather on top? Or is there a more thorough option that would replace the padding or seat all together? Is waiting for “pick a part” to have a totaled truck come in my best bet to get just wrecked OEM seats?

I may also be looking to find an aftermarket upgrade to power seats. Less for me but my wife is concerned as she is nearly a foot shorter than I am.

Yeah I think the powered foot pedals make a difference there too

A while ago, I was looking at options to upgrade the seating on my 2016 XLT (ended up just doing covers and waiting for the Lightning). One of the local install shops had an option to install seat heaters, install extra padding (memory foam if I remember correctly) and put on the Katzkin leather. Was a bit pricy, but would have resulted in a very nice seat. I suggest giving some local installers a call and seeing what options they have.

Yeah given the savings and the relative packaging in the pro I can put new seats in and a lariat/platinum steering wheel in for far less than the $11k difference. It will be interesting to see how the trucks hold up otherwise. Given the electric nature I’m curious if this becomes something I could hold on to for years and years. I generally flip my trucks after 3 because, despite feelings otherwise here I don’t like paying $1,000s in repair bills that come out of warranty with ford. I wonder if an electric lightning is the closet ford comes to offering Tundra/Tacoma reliability.

Any 14th gen seats should fit so I'd imagine there are plenty available. No waiting required. I think the only problem will be plugging in power seats if the pro doesn't have the proper wiring harness present.

Yeah I was thinking about the harness situation as well. Somewhat problematic I assume

I know there are some writeups in the forums here on seat swapping. I would assume that the wire harness for the seat in the pro will be the same as the xl,but at this point it's unknown.

Somewhat dumb question but I’ve never swapped full seats before. If there’s zero power going to the seat in a pro, could you even get power there? I would imagine if a base xlt has power already putting anything “nicer” would be feasible but without power to start, are you sh*t out of luck?

There is a seatbelt plug sensor, occupancy sensor for the airbag system, and then the actual side airbag itself. So even though the seat adjustment is manual, there are still other items that require additional wiring.

Lol so you mean I don’t have to like sit on the garage floor with the replacement seat plugged in, get comfy then unplug it and just mount it into the truck and never move it again?! Phew :)

All jokes aside, that’s good news. I was surprised by the vinyl on my bronco being nice but I think I’m going to be less impressed with the bolstering on this set up just given the base nature of things but we’ll see..

Search the internet, people have done the swap. Again, it will all depend on if the wiring harness is the same in the pro truck as it is in the current xl, but I would imagine so because Ford is reusing as many parts as possible.

I would think the seat frames will be the same underneat, so maybe one could order the XLT or Lariat seat foams and covers?

How adjustable are the seats in the Pro? Are they just simple back and forth like the F-150 XL? Or do they have more?
