I reserved an hr after reveal and currently number 40 at my dealer. They are a high volume dealer, but is there any hope that they will have 40 units allocated this year? I really would think that Ford would like to give a chance to the first day reservation holders to order, am I wrong thinking this??? Not sure what to do to try to get and the remaining waves, any thoughts??

You’ll probably get to order a MY 2023 truck later this year and get it delivered by the end of the year.

If you absolutely have to have this truck asap, start searching for abandoned orders once they start shipping. However I don't want to hear complaints about mark-up. Otherwise just be patient and wait. I'm going to bet you'll still be the first person on your street to own one.

I would be ok with receiving the end of the year, but not knowing and speculation for next year is killing me. I am currently wanting to get a new truck, so figured if I ordered during these 6 waves, I would have one this year, but waiting until mid next year would be too long of a wait.

Ive been thinking of switching dealers but not sure whether I would benefit from it.

problem with guessing is when they start making them it will be likely at some small number - say 10% of capacity. It will ramp up but guessing when is hard. And that makes it really hard to predict qty pet month. . in month 4 they might make more trucks then month 1, 2 and 3 combined.

At #40, I believe it's safe to assume you will not get a 2022 MY from any dealer. My dealer is a high volume dealer, and he got 9 allocated. Nobody got 40...

I hope you are right on this, but I don’t see how you could possibly have any idea about this. My dealership has ensured I will not be getting a 2022, because I”m 14th out of 734 and they are only getting 6 this year, but they have no information about when 2023 orders would go in or when those would ship.

Like Nick said you may get the next model year by the end of 2022, but I can't imagine that any dealer will get enough allocations to reach 40 on the list, even with deferred or abandoned reservations. I reserved mid-day on the 20th and I'm 60th or so in line at my dealer.

I spoke with them yesterday and even though they are the no. 1 Ford Truck dealer in the NW and in a ZEV state the business manager said "I believe for the 2022 model year, we are getting 15". I'm sure there are dealers who may get more allocations, but I'd be shocked if there were dealers getting 2x+ more. His estimate may not be exact, but I'd expect him to be able to ball park it.

This is all speculation, but I'm resigned to getting a truck mid 2023 at the absolute earliest. If you want to look on the brightside we will defininitely have more information about the Lightning's performance and should know more about the competition. The downside is it is much more likely that we won't be eligible for the tax credit.

According to Ford’s internal playbook, MY 23 ordering opens this summer, and production switches over this fall. Run rate will be much higher then, Q4 22will produce as much as Q2+3 22 combined. MY 22 production will get almost halfway to your spot on your dealer’s list, therefore you’ll have your truck by the end of…..ok,ok…January 2023.

I applaud your optimism and I hope you are right. My wife is still waiting on a Bronco we were supposed to have like 6 months ago, so I’m a little more cynical about Ford actually following through. But hey, they sent me a calendar and poster! So maybe we’ll get some great LIghtning Swag when they tell us they are running behind at the end of the year :)

My dealer said they will only get 7 but it seems a bit far fetched since they sell everything under the sun.
I too wonder how I got a few moments after web opened and ended up with #40.

I was 35th at Granger with a reservation made right after the event. I decided to move my reservation to a local dealer who says they are sticking to MSRP (plus $299 Doc) and did 0 priority. My move really had nothing to do with Granger but considering the local dealer is supposed to get 7-10 in the next waves (total) and only has 100 reservations i felt my odds are better, i need a vehicle this year. My 2013 Fusion has 170,000 and feels like a ticking time bomb. Plus we traded in our 19 XLT while trade values are high and I miss the truck already.

Now to just get my 6 and 7 year old to understand that not every electric vehicle is a tesla (DAMN YOU KIDS YOUTUBE!!!). I think they are more excited than my wife lol.
