Sorry, Ford can't violate federal law. The destination charge is the same regardless of where you, because its federal law.I agree with others! I'd pay a small fee for a factory tour if i can pick up mine in person to avoid the crazy delivery fee.
Just FYI Ford, your delivery fee is REDICULOUS for people that live closer to the plant. Why should i pay more so the guy in Cali can pay less?! Stupid! Imagine going to the post office and mailing a package to the town over. They tell you "We're charging everyone $10 regardless of where you send it to keep it FAIR." Post office would be out of business. If you insist on this, at least give the option to let people pick up their own car for free.
Ford actually holds a patent that allows for an EV to actually CHARGE the battery while being towed.
- For those RV customers. Please confirm that the Lightning can not be flat towed with any of the wheels on the ground, due to emotors permanent magnets.
Do they have this Live Streams archived online anywhere?
I took that comment as talking about the Gen 2 Lightning (that facility won't be up and running until 2025), but there is a lot of speculation, so who knows.Edit: oops, read the title wrong. Here's the stream:
The biggest news to me was that they are already prepping for another EV truck to be built in Tennessee. If it's the Ranger, I have a feeling my time as a Lightning owner will be relatively short.
They have to charge the fee, but they could add an option of factory tour and vehicle pickup (-1500). You settle everything with your local dealer before the trip. Maybe you even have to stop by the dealer for final inspection. Like some European marquis do/did with overseas delivery programs. Drive your car in Europe, it gets put on a ship and brought to the states and then delivered by your local dealership.Sorry, Ford can't violate federal law. I submitted this idea (almost exactly - I didn't include the discount) to the Ford Ideas website. That is the wrong Live Stream. That is the Lightning Official Release Party video that happened earlier in the day.Edit: oops, read the title wrong. Here's the stream:
