I'm not sure I see where OP said his power from work is free. Also, it would be possible to fill Lightning's electron tank exclusively from a source with green carbon-free electrons. :)

Lightning is the first EV that I know of that makes useful amounts of electric power portable. The extended range battery would power my house for a week with plenty left over to propel the truck to go back for more.

I pay about $250 per month on average in electricity. I like the way the topic creator thinks, exploit free chargers and save all that money! My Tesla could be charged for free using my Lightning, even better!

Now I just need my employer to share all their streaming passwords and I can cut another big monthly bill.
Just think if you could also charge the Lightning from your Tesla! Never pay to charge again. 😄
Reminds me of the guy who wanted to mount a wind generator on the roof to charge his EV while driving.

Dealer priority is a very small part of the picture. One of the biggest factors is the size of the dealership.

Some of the smaller dealers are only getting one or two 2022 models, while some larger ones may get hundreds. If your dealer has already used up their 2022 allocation, the higher priority doesn't matter. If they've reached their limit, the only way to get one faster would be for them to bump somebody else.

I also agree with @Maquis, that unless you're selling a home that comes with a truck, something like a PowerWall would be a better fit because it runs 24/7.

If you're just looking for a green way to run your tools while you're building it, there are quite a few green batteries you can put in the back of your truck. A lot of them can be charged with solar panels.

It’s hard to understand exactly what you’re trying to do, but it kind of sounds to me like a PowerWall would be more of a fit than a pickup truck?

So not really 100% a green home. Obtaining power off of the grid from somewhere other than home and then hauling that power home.

Employers may not look too kindly on an employee that is taking $$$ of power every day. It is one thing for an employer to support charging a vehicle for a commute. A bit different when they are providing the electricity for loads of laundry and running a homes HVAC system. It certainly makes an interesting use case for possible IRS taxable benefits unless the employee is charged for the power.

There have been discussions on this forum about vehicle manufacturers not supporting the vehicle battery warranty when it is being used as a daily powerwall instead of just being charged for vehicle transportation and occasional power supply use.
Your not understanding the post, I tried to make it a little more clear by revising my original post.

I see some comments do not understand some of my statements, I hope this will help clear some points. I never said I was expecting employers to provide free power, and the truck is not intended to do anything more than what ford promotes "Home Backup Power" In our province in winter months we can get days of snow storms where if the home is off grid would end up freezing pipes and the people living in them, a 100+kw power wall would be the same as the truck, but what would you do if the storm lasted beyond the needs of the home. A portable power supply fixes that issue, and avoid the $20K plus cost of power wall. I may be harsh on Ford, but I do not understand how they randomly pick what they decide to build, rather than first come first serve. My dealer was allocated 4 trucks, and ford pulled trucks which the dealer put at a lower priority and after my order date. I guess the good point of waiting for 2023 is it gives time for Trudeau to add the Ford lightning to government rebates that currently are not offered on trucks.
We've had quite a few discussions about both the ordering process and the backup power features, so I'll summarize some of what's been talked about here.

The general consensus is that most people hate dealers, and many would prefer to order directly from manufacturers, like Tesla does. Under that model, your order sequence plays a large part in the sequence of when you'll get delivery. The other factors are the particular options and your location. For example, Tesla ships faster to locations closest to the factory.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple with manufacturers with dealers. There are at least 2,000 dealers, and there are only about 15,000 Lightnings, so Ford allocates each dealer a fixed number of Lightnings based on their size. Some dealers may only get 2, while others may get hundreds.

Here's an example of how it played out with the Mach-E. There are 2 dealers within 20 miles of my home. One was allocated about 4 Mach-E's, which were quickly sold. I walked into the second dealer and there were still about 40 of them sitting in their lot, and more on the way.

So, I chose the larger one for my Lightning, even though I love the smaller one, and that turned out to be a good idea because the smaller one is only getting 3 Lightning. When a 4th person reserves one from the smaller one, it's not going to be built this year, even while the list of customers from the larger one keeps growing from people who ordered days or weeks later.

None of us are happy with the role of dealers in the order process, but after nearly 100 years of working with dealers, they're stuck with the allocation model for now. Thankfully, there are signs that manufacturers are finding ways to change at least some of the things people hate about dealers (selling above list, etc.).

As for portable power. I'm not going to use my truck for that, because I rarely lose power, but I think it's a great option for people who lose power for short periods of time at a time. Anything longer than a few hours is better served with other options because there's a bit of a Catch-22.

If you lose power for a longer period of time, you can in fact get power from the truck, but you also can't leave your home for work, food, or to re-charge it for that matter.

Portable power packs from Goal Zero or EcoFlow are simple alternatives that are truly portable. If you get two of them, you could link them together... or simply swap one out while you drive off to charge the other.

PS... We've been hearing that dealers are each being offered a demo model, in addition to their regular allocation. From what I've read, although some are obligated to wait a few months before selling them, they eventually will, so maybe you can ask them for that one.

This is a situation that many on this forum has faced with 2022 builds. Ford allowed dealers to prioritize more customers than they would get 2022 allocation. You could have been the very first reservation that made it into Fords system but if the dealer elected to prioritize other orders you end up behind those customers when it comes to allocations.

I really can't answer as to what is fair for a method to distribute Lightnings. Should it be the first clicker on line? Should dealers (who presumably know their community) have a say by selecting some of their best customers who support their business but weren't as fast at clicking? Should Ford or dealers seek out those with noble pursuits? I don't think anyone has a good answer.

Your dealer will be getting a 2022 Mannequin unit. Maybe you can buy it when it come available for sale.

I had several hours with my dealer explaining the importance of getting a truck this year, and under there guidance because of chip shortages order that most basic XLT to insure our company would get a truck this year.
I think your main issue is here; they didn't build very many Pro or base XLT models this year, as you and dealer assumed. They seem to have prioritized Lariats above all. There's a graph somewhere out there that I've seen that shows less than 30% of total units were Pro or XLT combined. My guess is Lariats and Platinums at your dealer were prioritized ahead of you because there were more of them being made.
