How do I get started for a lightning

Ordering for 2022 is done and reservations are closed off for now. You may find one on a dealer lot at some point, but it will almost certainly be marked up. Given how few Pros they’re producing I’d wager you’re too late to the party, sorry.

OP is looking for a “lightening” not a Lightning. I think he already knows that buying an unreserved Pro Lightning will result in a lightening of the wallet.

I bought my 2021 F150 Lariat 5.0 at nearly 12K under invoice and 0%APR by ordering and waiting I was simply asking what the process is about the electric trucks as I have not paid any attention to all the posts about them to date. others have said do I have a reservation, how do I go about getting a reservation? I don't need one immediately.

Can't compare your ICE F150 to a newly introduced - first year model EV F150.

Totally different demand = I will pay full MSRP for a F150 Lightning but will never consider buying a gasoline powered F150.

If you don't have a paid $100 reservation with Ford, you can wait until later this year to place your reservation.

Do know that almost all the 2023 MY F150 Lightnings are sold (over 200,000 reserved) and Ford will take a few years to ramp up production.

You may have to wait until 2024 when production is up and demand slows down.

In the meantime, check with your local dealers and find out their allocation numbers - the higher the better to go with.

Buying one from dealer inventory of an abandoned order is your only chance, and it will NOT be under invoice or MSRP, but well above!!

You have a VERY long wait to get on the reservation list, never mind the chance to custom order one, you will be getting in line behind 185,000 others anxious to have the chance to order this coming August 2022.

When Ford introduced the Lightning a year ago they expected something like 20,000 reservations. They got 200,000 reservations which has caused them to triple the size of the Lightning EV plant. Ford also stopped taking reservations for the Lightning when that 200,000 number was reached as they knew they couldn't deliver on that many reservations all the way into 2024.

The Lightning may be the hottest vehicle on the market right now. Getting one for MSRP without a reservation/order would be like buying a SuperBowl ticket on the open market for under face value.
