I've finally gotten around to adding my Lightning to FordPass, when I put in the VIN I get an error message "FordPass isn't responding". This has been happening all day. Anyone else having issues with FordPass. Not really great that the first time I've bothered to use the app it's been down all day. Not the kind of reliability I'm expecting from an app meant to access live data from my truck.

Try adding you VIN through the ford website first.

That worked. Geez, talk about 'user friendly'.

Ford really needs to step up their tech game if they want to compete in the EV world.

I probably wouldn't be too quick to judge the user friendliness of adding a vehicle that isn't even built (in many cases), or purchased to an app. ;)

Are you saying it would be different if i had the vehicle?

Likely yes - it would have more time to propagate through their systems

Fair enough...but my original comment stands. Ford's tech org is not good. :)

My Ford Pass app usually gave me an error when trying to activate. But this last time it went through and has been sitting at “Activation Pending” for 2 days now. Anyone else?

This is true. But they are a car company first, so I cut them some slack.
They were until they play in the EV space. The world changes and you must meet it head on. I won't quit comparing them to Tesla because I've lived that world. If you want to build it and support it you better be ready. Ford is not. I'm willing to give some slack, there are learning curves, but when you've had a few years to study the leader I don't cut you near as much slack.

EV is just another power train for a Car, Ford doesn’t necessarily have to be #1 in software/tech. Fords software/tech is good enough, have you experienced it first hand yet? If you want to talk about the batteries that is a different story. I am also a former Tesla owner who got rid of a Model 3 for an ICE F-150, and their driving dynamics, suspension, interior material quality, build quality, leave a lot to be desired…. But their software is good.

Tesla still has automatic wipers in Beta mode, so they have a lot of work to do themselves.

BluesClues is out and usable unlike FSD, which if you head over to the Tesla forums, owners are currently pissed off about. So yeah, Tesla give you Netflix’s and Fart sounds but as a car company they are to the point where they shouldn’t be given any slack neither.

I’m really not sure where Ford is lacking other than charging to be honest.

I'm on board and try to be fair, 2 Model 3's in the garage today - one with FSD beta. The Phone As a Key didn't work well in the beginning. They even changed how it worked early on. The wipers used to be BAD, but truly they've been about 98% for a couple of years now. There are things Tesla does not do well, The games and fart noises are annoying.

I will only note I was replying to the fact that you wanted to note Ford is a car company first. Indeed they are, but you can't do EV without good software, so they have to bring it.
