That's disappointing about the charger, and charging you for failed connections is just salt in the wound. Seems like 3rd party chargers just mailed it in to get that sweet subsidy and basically left. Putting in the resources to ensure a few bucks of charging revenue isn't lost doesn't seem to be worth their effort.

Also a drag about the ping pong. I have an AP1 car which does lane changes. It does fine, I suppose, though it is slow to actually make the change when prompted by the turn signal. With plenty of room to change lanes it is good, but when there's a bit more traffic requiring passing and getting back over, I often turn AP off and leave cruise on since the system isn't responsive enough to change lanes. Good to hear that Ford is less intrusive. Is the wheel "locked" in the same way the Tesla is with BC enabled? Whenever I take over it always jerks the car since you have to put so much torque on the wheel to overcome the steering servo with AP engaged.
No, it is not locked and a good way to compare. The Ford assumes you are taking over. I do the same jerk motion on the Tesla and was surprised it was not needed here.

I'm hoping someone at Ford is keeping in contact with as you are the first person with the truck. Have they reached out to you yet after posting these initial results? The battery mileage is concerning to me, I was planning on getting the SR but now I may just get a Tesla as the chargers and mileage seem more reliable. Granted a tesla is car vs a truck, but still :)
Last week, I spoke with their PR team but haven't talked to them since. I am sure they are tracking these updates, but no one has explicitly reached out

No, I have not had a chance to try the Electrify America stations yet. I have seen them at Meijers around Michigan in the Tesla, but haven't plugged the ford in yet.

Wow charging situation is definitely different in Michigan. Here in NY, NJ,DC etc it’s Electrify America everywhere with a mix of 150w-350w. Makes our Etron a way better road tripper than the Model Y due to the charging curve. Tesla Superchargers here are always full and the charging curve isn’t great.


Reliability isn’t vastly better but there are more stations than the ChargePoint you used. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I have ever even seen a ChargePoint DCFC along the Northeast.

I had a chance to compare BlueCruise to our 2019 Tesla M3, and they are similar in idea but different in execution. Given we only have the AutoPilot (not the FSD beta), they are identical in what each vehicle can provide.
That's an interesting statement given that one is hands-free and one requires you to have a hand on the wheel the entire time. Maybe I'm alone, but that's a huge difference to me.

I'm excited to drive a Lightning and compare it to my Mach E. I've never had the ping pong effect in my Mach E. Maybe Ford can fine tune the software on the Lightning to reduce that.

So is this an ER or SR? With 152mi drive+70mi left in the tank=222 miles.

If SR, then sounds great because you're getting just about full use of the 230mi range.
If ER, then horrible since you're getting 71.8% of the est 320mi range.

Really hoping this has SR battery because if ER is only getting 71.8% highway, that means SR would only get 165.14mi for same trip.

Edit: I just saw in OP profile its platinum. Now kinda disappointed with my SR decision because i do a ride monthly from Chicago to northern Michigan 340 miles one way. Was hoping to do one stop half way to charge, but now this data means i'll have to do 2 charging stops instead of one half way.

It's a platinum. So ER with epa 300 range

ER platinum so 300 miles. Also he said maybe 10mph headwind while driving 75mph. He is reported 1.6 miles per kWh. At that rate you would need 212 kWh, so 100 percent down to 15, charge to 80, down to 15, charge to 80 down to 18ish. Drive a bit slower, get yourself a tailwind and you will finish with more in the battery, but will still require two stops. If efficiency turns out to be 2 miles per kWh then you will require 170kwh (still two stops). You need to get efficiency up to 2.125 and run down to 10 percent, up to 80, down to 10 to get it down to one stop on the SR battery.

All the apps show it as functional, but plugshare comments on the review show issues. My lesson learned is that I need to use multiple apps to verify...not great for consumers.

This is exactly what I am afraid of: when you reach the planned charging station with last bit of juice in battery, the chargers are not working.

Government always emphasizes on tax credit. They don’t understand that more reliable and affordable charging stations is much more important.

Platinum is ER with 300 miles range, in extreme cold situation plan 50% of the claimed range.

I am curious if OP using heater or just heated seats.

Lots of money was included in the Bipartisan infrastructure bill to build out the EV charging network. More was included in Build Back Better, but we all know what happened to that
