$8500 + $7500 = price increase of $16000. Gas going down to $2 and L3 charge stations costing 59 cents/kw, these things will have resale value of nissan leaf. im out.
I highly doubt gas is going down that low - we just don't have the refining capacity anymore.

Also, the price of electricity at you home will increase significantly over the next couple of years and more and more people start plugging in the cars at home. Demand goes up, price goes up! I am out too!

I think I'm the only one leaning towards take delivery then sell.

Gas will probably never be that low again. Numerous people in the industry have said the next hurricane that hits the gulf is going to do a number on the refineries and we have no spare capacity.

My electricity has gone up 50% over the last year. I'm looking into solar.

I'm going to see what the market looks like with the Silverado. I prefer Ford(style and brand) but may sell or trade in depending upon the price vs increased range/faster charging on the Silverado.

We'll see.

I doubt see the market collapsing on these. Ford could sell 500,000 of these things even without the tax credit...

You posted this on the other thread too.

Most analysts are calling for gas price exiting 2022 to be $4.35/gallon average in US. Only reason we're dropping below that right now is that we're using up injections of stockpiles that were emergency measures.

And if you're paying $0.59 for DCFC, you're paying about twice what you need to, even if you are doing 100% DCFC. In even the most expensive states, EA is charging $0.31 per kWh with a $4/month membership cost. And as most people will charge mostly at home and not at DCFC, my current price of $0.096 per kWh will make it significantly cheaper yet.

Your post is not aligned with reality.

Ya my original plan was to see what happened with the Silverado. I'm kinda like you. I mich prefer the Ford from a looks and interior perspective but the Chevy has better specs and faster charging.
But I don't know if I want to put out another $100+ a month.
I could just get a bolt and a maverick. Especially if the bolt gets even more of a discount.

If you don't need a truck, there are better options for EVs out there...

Of course no one know what is going to be left eligible for tax credit after we discover what the batteries are made of (battery content requirement)

My thoughts--

If you just need a commuter and don't road trip the 2023 Bolt is a steal at $26-30k.(With tax credit they could sneak under 20k!!) The only issue is 50kw "fast charging" would not work for road trips. However, with 250mi range its a great alternative for the commute.

Equinox EV starting at $30k looks promising, Blazer EV at $40-55k (most configurations) looks like a decent choice for price.

Cadillac Lyriq appears to be a great value for luxury EV at $60-65k.

Also maybe consider Volvo xc60/xc90 PHEV as alternatives.

Maybe refreshed Audi eTron//new etron 6 (Porsche Macan platform). Thsoe may be worth investigating, but not assembled in North America so tax credit comes into play.

I probably would have dropped to an XLT SR and just used it as a local truck (commuting and hauling duty).
Haha this is exactly what I ordered the 2022 XLT SR for. I need to occasionally haul bigger items to rentals that we own so a truck was a must.

We have the Tesla Model Y for road trips and it just eats the miles.

We have been loving the Mach-e for road trips, but are looking forward to the greater range (extra ~30 mins per leg), more room/comfort, and more cargo area of the Lighting.

The only Tesla I could see myself owning is a Model S (or Roadster), but that is too rich for my blood, especially since I would need a truck on the side too.

I can understand price increases due inflation - 10% up across the board for everything....fine...

This however, looks like a business taking advantage of the refreshed $7.5K tax credit/rebate and leaving nothing for the consumer - the trucks are coincidentally marked up $7-8K more expensive across the board instead of going up 10% for each trim...

From a short-medium term business perspective - this is a smart thing to do - will significantly thin out the reservations, and can sell to those without reservations who have deeper pockets for the Lariat/Platinum ER trims much sooner - some folks remember feeling wronged and carry grudges....that may come to haunt them later...but probably not a significant impact...
The problem with that though, is the tax credit is only for trucks with MSRP of 80k. Even SR Lariat is out at this point. Only Pro and XLT SR will qualify.

Where are you seeing that SR Lariat is out. Base is ~$75k

I need something that can tow around 5000lbs, preferably a bit more. I was hoping to replace my old SUV and with an EV. It's hard to justify replacing it with another gas truck. I could possibly replace my daily driver (Prius) as well and not be out a fortune in gas.
I would honestly like a 3 row SUV but there's nothing in the realm for an ev that's affordable or can tow so that's out. The upcoming ev9 or xc90 EV are interesting but I'm assuming they'll be way out of my price range.
I could always go with an id4 or wait for the Blazer (I have an early reservation). I've got an early Silverado reservation as well.
