So i am looking into chargers and thinking for the $500 that the mobile charger cost i would go the route of a tesla mobile charger. Are there any concerns i should have with this set up? I figure this also gets me the tesla adapter for destination chargers.

Tesla Mobile Charger $200
14-30 Adapter $45
Lectron Adapter $160

Just buy correct equipment. Donā€™t cheap out by $100 on a 40-100k purchase

Its not really about the cheapness, the FMC has known issues and the advantage of the tesla unit is multiple adapters.

So as i continue reading im not sure this set up will work the way i want. Tesla's regulate the incoming charge to prevent pulling more than the connection can take. Fords do not so not being able to control the amps might not work out as i planned.

Yes, thatā€™s a problem if you need to plug in to a lower-rated circuit. There are portable EVSEs with selectable charge rates.

The Lectron adapter has worked well with my Tesla Wall Charger, never fails or give errors. Not sure about the mobile charger though.

I travel for work and cant always guarantee a destination charge.
Heads upā€¦.currently the Lightingā€˜s software will only request/accept 11A when charging on 120V (117Vā€¦.1.29 KWh maxā€¦.realistically, ~1.1-1.2 kWh), so any of assorted 120V adapters you getā€¦or the amperage capability to charge at 120V, will not provide you any real value. I would focus any adapter value analysis on the 240V sideā€¦ā€¦.

I am running a Tesla and a Lightning. Running 240V on 60amp breaker. Purchased the Tesla wall charger ($400 from Tesla) that provides up to 48A. Bought the Lectron adapter Tesla to J1772 from Amazon. Works perfect for both vehicles.

I have pondering this same solution... From what I see in the manual, the amperage is set based on which adapter is attached to the unit.
https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/charging_docs/gen_2_umc/Gen2_UMC_Manual_en_US.pdf

I wasn't including the Lectron adapter in my price comparison as I already picked that up to keep in the truck so I can use any destination charger I run across. I was planning to get the 7 adapter kit for $245 however.

So far I have not found anything else able to support so many plugs for the same cost.
