Does anyone know where the original Ford statement saying they would honor the 2022 price was? I remember seeing it when ordering, but not sure if they ever sent an email or something else to confirm.

Thanks. I definitely have not seen any document like this so I'm assuming you get it at the dealer at the time of purchase. (assuming that the dealer doesn't try to play games)

Nice!

Tomorrow morning call/chat Ford CS and ask for your railcar # and make sure to ask which railroad the railcar is with. It seems that you'll either start out on Canadian Nathional (CN) or CSX. I don't think railcars ever start out on Norfolk Southern (NS), but I could be wrong on that.

For CN, you can call 1-800-361-0198. They are super nice (Canadians, eh?) and will happily give you a status update. Just ask for an update on a railcar.

For CSX, you can use their automated trace line.

CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say TTGX (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

Your railcar won't be with CN or CSX for very long as neither have rail lines anywhere close to California. You'll either be transferred to Union Pacific (UP) or Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF). I believe it's more likely you'll end up on UP, but I'm basing this off of half-assed research. From what I can tell, BNSF services WA and OR, and UP covers CA, at least when it comes to Ford vehicles. Ford CS or CN will be able to tell you who it was transferred to. I'm not sure if CSX will tell you that on their automated line as I was originally shipped on CN.

If you do end up with UP, you can call their automated trace line with the instructions below, but I will warn you that the information the line gives isn't that great. It will basically tell you the load status of the rail car, whether it departed, arrived, or is on hold, the time the aforementioned action happened, the estimated time of arrival, and the origin location. It unfortunately doesn't tell you where the railcar is at. You can reach out to Ford CS and they will have access to the last known location.

Union Pacific
  • Press 1 to continue in English
  • Say the word “trace”
  • Say “one” when asked how many pieces of equipment
  • Say the railcar ID (letters and numbers)
  • Say “no” when asked if you wanted a copy faxed
  • Listen to your update

If you end up on BNSF, there is no way to track the railcar and you'll have to rely on Ford CS.
